What "man jobs" have you done today?

Mine are the same, a glossy red finish, I’ve thought about sanding them down with a 400/600 grit paper to take the glossy finish away, hopefully that’ll then help the paint stick easier.

I don’t want them matte white though so I’d also go over them with a gloss white after if I wasn’t happy with the finish the tile paint gives.

I’ll try and find a picture, let me know if you think white would go with my kitchen rather than red?

I quite like those tiles
looks okay to me :)

For painting tiles we used a 2 part specific tile paint for our kitchen and it has come out fine. If you need I can find the specific paint we used. Mixed and rolled on and has covered the old horrible grey with a nice clean white. It also managed to cover the very old style stencil designs in some of the tiles which we were surprised at. For a £35 tub of paint it was worth a go before replacing as we want a while new kitchen in the future anyway. That said we are more than happy with it and everyone who has seen it is surprised it’s painted.

Add a single socket USB outlet. Going to do a few of the 2 outlet with fast charge but they cost between £35-£45...

For some reason, there was three double sockets on one of the kitchen walls, with one being smack bang in the middle. So I removed that, filled in the gap, sanded down and painted. Looks much better.

I fixed my partners broken boiler. She was most impressed:cool:
Came back from a walk to a cold house and broken boiler.
Turned out it was the fan sticking. Just needed a bit of wd40.
A plumber would have probably charged her a couple of hundred quid!

Decided to carry on clearing and organising the garage. Even after two tip runs, a pile of stuff to go to the charity shop and two massive burn ups in the fire pit there was still quite a bit to do

The ladder leaning across the side wall.was the key to everything so whallopped some large nails in the roof timbers and hung it between the two doors

Took the shelving down

Shifted the old bookcase

Then put up bike hangers all the way along the wall

IMG-20210102-140243.jpg

Two of them were quite pricey so installed two "ground anchors" onto the wall

Big bolts needed big drill bit

Drilled out the eight holes

IMG-20210102-142925.jpg

Got the anchors ready

IMG-20210102-143902.jpg

Knocked them in, tightened right up, knocked ball bearings into the alan fitting head and installed the outer casing

IMG-20210102-150717.jpg

Few chains and padlocks should keep any opportunist thief from taking them

What anchors are those you are using? Would you recommend them?

I've used some similar hangers for the kids bikes in the shed (have had to sacrifice garage space for utility. Do you find your hangers stay at the right Engle when you remove the bike, or do they flop straight down? I've got 2 and 1 does the first and the second does the latter, I assume it's meant to stay at roughly the same angle to make it easier to put the bikes back up.

I have the same ones, some of mine have suffered the ‘flop’. Not much drama, just makes things awkward with heavy bikes.

also the fixings are crap. Ended up using my own. Nice and neat though for bike storage, dirt cheap on the bay too.

These are spot welded so hope they won't go flaccid :D

I got the hangers in a sale probably a year or so ago from PlanetX - just not got round to erecting them until a few days ago :p

Replaced cold water tap cartridge after the ceramic seal decided to break / become misaligned and then ejected some expletives as I lost the retaining screw down the plughole.

What a bell-end; cover your holes!

Fortunately I had grub screws on hand for such eventualities!
