What "man jobs" have you done today?

Got the rad out and started to sand the wall down before realising the paint (and large chunks of plaster) was no good. Ended up scraping to where it was 'good'. When I moved in a trickle vent was letting water in so I imagine that (plus the fact it had a rad far too close to the wall) contributed. Plan to fill, sand, PVA and paint.

I'm at the point in the job where you ask yourself "why did I start this?" :o

Got expert with the tapering knife and some polyfill, so got an invisible join where the paint thickness was way off. Also got very lucky in that there was a channel above the skirting board so hid that cable nicely. Just mounted and tested the new rad. Used some Hawk White and Loctite 55 to get a first time perfect seal. Phew.

Edit: This rad also had an issue with air locking. Turns out the bleed valve was on the wrong side, so I have corrected that too.

Nice job on the tiling @zuludawn. Are those black and orange tile things any good? How do you use them?

They have a small T on the other side that you insert then turn to catch both tiles then tighten the front part up. Brill little invention, first time I've used them.
They meant for bigger tiles really as they can pull the tile off the spacer when you tighten then.

Lol only just noticed, never gave it a thought. To be honest that little bit was a pain had to back butter the lower tiles cause wall was so out. :)
I only pointed it out because I did exactly the same thing in mine. Only I've noticed but drives me insane. :o sorry!

Looks good, my tiling in the entranceway (floor, approx 2m squared), is a bit unlevel but I had to use adhesive to level it as the build can't level thing and I only realised after I'd started tiling, in hindsight I should have dumped a load of screed on top before I started.

Contemplating moving the hot tub to the other end of the patio this weekend.
Should have put it there to start with tbh, as there is a roof above at the other end.
My hot tub novice mind thought that no roof above would have been better........but once installed and set up, the rain started and I regretted that decision :-(

Found a damp bit of carpet in the spare room yesterday....it's adjacent to the bathroom.

Took the panel off the bath, discovered a lot of damp, had to dig out a lot of damp plasterboard from next to the bath. Set the dehumidifer on it.

Had a look around to see where the damp was coming from. Looks like it's just the bath seal. Closer inspection reveals the tile grout is pretty cracked and generally in a bad state (well, I did know this before, but didn't realise it was leaking).

So....six hours after I started investigating the damp carpet, I have finished.

Trip to Screwfix for:
1x sealant applicator/remover
1x tube sealant

Cue realising the grout needs redoing too

Trip to Wickes for :
1x grout float
1x grout sponge
1x grout rake
1x tub waterproof grout/sealant

Then 1 hour spent cursing and sweating trying to remove grout with the rake leading to:

Trip to Screwfix for :
1x grout remover multitool attachment

Looks quite tidy now though. I suspect I'll discover the leak is from the shower behind the stud wall now....but maybe this will do the trick.

Scraping away the flaking paint above the tiles in one our bathrooms. Turns out to be MDF panels underneath instead of actual wall.

Standard for this place. A lash-up, hidden by a bodge.

Couple more problematic slabs down, just need to do near the gate now and make it run off into the drain.

Ice also decided I want to lay about six more slabs....and dig some more....because I've not done 30+SQM already haha :D

Moved the hot tub from one end of the patio to the other.....was one of those jobs that I started to wish I had never started.
Electrician mate came around this morning to install the 32amp armoured cable - all now done, refilled and reheating.

Next weekend fitting a TV outside next to the hot tub (roofed), move the infra red wall heater to the other wall......this job seems never ending!

Neighbour kindly offered me to use his brown bin as my landlord gave the hedge a giant trim/restructure. Maybe 25% of the cuttings fit in there... Going to have to find someone to take the rest away!

Also cleared my e-waste box out on a dump trip. 3 monitors, an amp and a box of bulbs/lamps/appliances. Must stop hoarding things I'll never fix.

Bit like my garden, I wanted a patio at the top and a couple of planters :D
