Imo membranes are utterly pointless, weeds just groe onto or if the membrane is old enough, straight through then you've got the difficulty of getting the roots out.Ha ha it has a membrane and about 6" of gravel!
The horsetail in particular grows through anything but to be fair the gravel makes it very easy to pull most stuff out

Haha...I just dumped the old kitchen and raged at the fact I hadn't removed some of the 90 degree angle iron. This was in spite of me removing about 40 and storing them from the other bits. May need it in the future is a fun thing. Now got a virtually empty loft -Just a few essentials left along with loads of stacked empty plastic boxes.
Just got to get some to tip and rest to charity shop. Hate lofts.
garage needs the same but that is full of I might need it in future junk.
I tried, the bracket is just int he way enough so it won't grip. The screws are so stiff anyway I'm not sure I can do it. I'll try again another day.Mole grips are your friend
Me too. Finally finished moving two water butts that were in the wrong place to round the back of the shed.I finally setup a water butt that I bought almost 3 years ago. It turned out to be a faff when I tried to remove one of the brackets holding the down pipe. I don't know what screws the guy used but they wouldn't come out with my impact driver and it shredded one of the heads in the process. I managed to do it but now I have one screw half pocking out of the wall which is really annoying.

And how wet your clothes are!Just learnt my Samsung heat pump dryer is delay end and not delay start..makes limited sense given the dry cycle is heavily dependent on the ambient temp. I just want it to come on when electricity is inexpensive!
True. Although just like the work world, the end outcome is irrelevant as long as I can max tinker with new thingsAnd how wet your clothes are!
I'm going to give it a try, they seem like a good thing to have in a toolbox but I don't think they will help here just because the screws are so difficult to move even when the head was in good condition. If not, i'll snap it off and move the bracket up a tadSomething like this might help?

No new fridge for BenskiI also sold my old fridge and wrapped it up for the lad in bubble wrap. Bubble wrap I'd saved in case I need it in the future. It is now the future and I used it, and I was mad it was being used. Humans are dumb.
No but he is a roofer with a tidy van, so I'm working on the relationship with him; with our future needs in mind!No new fridge for Benski
So you've had 0 weeds, not even any growing above the membrane? Will stick my hand up and say that our membrane has, over the years, been no-where near pointless.
If it does degrade, then it will not be an issue to replace.

have never used a membrane .. i use salt sand not washed .. and if you do see a plant growing thru pluck it and salt the areaImo membranes are utterly pointless, weeds just groe onto or if the membrane is old enough, straight through then you've got the difficulty of getting the roots out.
You'll always get weeds but they should be easier to pull up. The membrane is there to stop them getting deep rootsWhere did I state I've had no weeds?
