What "man jobs" have you done today?

Here we go....

"The lock picking lawyer" on YouTube was using one the other day to see how tough some super duper padlock was. It was very tough indeed! The attempts were definitely more brutal than "picking" :)
There is a British lad who works from a dingy workshop who has outdone lock picking lawyer on a couple of unpickable locks. I'll dig his name out, you'll like him I'm sure.

Impressive stuff to be doing on your own. And doing it backwards, in a finished kitchen no less! :p
Haha I have been mulling over as I work through this, what my explanation for starting top down was. Trust me, it made sense at the time :p

I love that album
Unfortunately the Alexa show has stopped working entirely lol.

Edit: final haul, onto insulation now!

I've never mistaken coated, and painted 3 rooms that had been skimmed and not had any issues. Does it depend on the type of paint?
Yeah, some contractors use the cheapest, chalky paint they can get their hands on. The first coat is the most important, so a decent quality paint should be used. We just had some work done and the paint they used is terrible, it just wipes off with a damp cloth. if I was to paint over that i'm sure there will be issues down the line, so I'm going to wipe it all off and get some decent scrubable matt on there.

Quality British wiring there :D That'd also be on my list to sort soon as I saw that.

Can anyone suggest a decent brand of paint for painting woodwork dark brown?

We have an open porch above our front door and the timbers need a lick of paint.

Rather than being stained, it looks like very dark brown paint.

Any suggestions?

What do I win?

Pulled from under the carpets of grandparent in laws. They were mega cheap and used newspaper to line under their carpets instead of underlay. Different wallpaper on each wall because they bought ends of rolls! That sort of thing.
In South Wales a few years ago someone bought a house and lifted the carpets and found hundreds of cinema posters from the 1930's and 1940's. The best of them went for auctions and one sold for £10,000's

The Basil Rathbone one is the one I was thinking of, I can't remember if the Stagecoach one was from the same sale.

61k for underlay ours cloud 9 into perspective!

When we replaced the radiator in the hallway there was a bright pink thong, unfortunately the lady who lived here before us was in her 70's.

Slowly making more progress on the shed, all the battens on the outside ready for cladding, window in, painted the frames with some blackjack.
