I bought a 2gig twinx kit from OCUK a couple of months back. Its the Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200C2PT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS2 (MY-079-CS) as advertised on the website. It claims to have timings of 2-3-3-6. When I installed the ram and let the bios choose its auto settings the timings it detected were 3-3-3-8. I thought must be a glitch and set it to the advertised 2-3-3-6. Howvere, I've been having stability issues with it but I thought may be down to the raid 0 setup I was trying for the first time cos sometimes I got file corruption and that. Anyway I thought I'd run cpu-z and according to that the part number is CMX1024-3200C2, which is what it should be if indeed it is the proper 2-3-3-6 stuff, but the timings table tells me it is cas 3.0 3-3-8, which just happens to match the "Corsair 2GB DDR XMS3200PT TwinX (2x1GB) CAS3 (MY-039-CS)" ram on the same web page. WHat's going on here then? Any ideas?

Errr doesn't sound good mate. What voltage are your suppling had a quick look on the corsair site you should be suppling 2.75 if your not up the voltage and see if your ram is stable. Mem test will be your friend here.

my corsair is pc6400 by default the mother board runs it at 5-5-5-15 but corsair states it will run at 4-4-4-12 2.1v so i run it at that.

your ram may need more voltage see what corsaid reccomend as volatge for your ram. your mobo may not be giving it enough.

I use to have those corsair sticks and spd timings built into them are 3,3,3,8. You have to set them to 2,3,3,6 manually. Have you tried 2.8v in case your board undervolts, also what board is it as could be other settings causing probs? and have you tried the other dimm slots or bios update?

They are currently in an A8V @ 2.8V running at approx 202Mhz. My main concern was are the chips as advertised i.e. 2-3-3-6 or was I the victim of bogus chips. From what you say its normal for them to auto to 3-3-3-8, even if that sounds daft. I've just bought a DFI lan party ultra-d and a 8800gtx so I wanted to make sure the ram was ok before I start building the new rig. I know I've run memtest on it and it passes ok so must be something else causing the instability. I'm going to give raid a miss when I rebuild, seems its more trouble than its worth really.

I wonder how many people bought these and accepted the defaults and are running at 3-3-3-8? I don't see anywhere on corairs site or OCUK where it goes out of its way to say you have to manually overide your bios. Not being a hardcore geek I'm not aware if it is taken as granted you have to do this, didn't have to with my old 3200LLPT sticks.

Hmmm, further digging Corsairs compatabilty site has reavealed these modules are only guaranteed to run at 2T on my mb. I am running them at 1T. Wonder if thats the problem, even though they pass memtest as I said.
