Could have been an incompatible bios, have you tried the Sapphire bios?

They should work if it's unlocked since Sapphire is the OEM for AMD anyway.

Do you have a link to the actual specific bios?

I'd rather try with one proven to work tbh.

Use the Hawaii info tool to see if your card can be flashed.

The reading has to be something like this:
RA1: F8000005 RA2: F8010000
RB1: F8000005 RB2: F8010000
RC1: F8000005 RC2: F8010000
RD1: F8000005 RD2: F8010000

Or this:
RA1: F8000005 RA2: 00000000
RB1: F8000005 RB2: 00000000
RC1: F8000005 RC2: 00000000
RD1: F8000005 RD2: 00000000

For your card to be unlockable.

The Asus 290X bios is popular, as it unlocks the voltage.

Yeah I did that and it said it was fine yet it didn't work.

My 290 pcs+ has Hynix.

Mine too, VRam is not great for overclocking, 1400 to 1450 For 24/7, 1500 to 1550 For Benching if i'm lucky, sometimes it will Black Screen past 1500.

I have yet to see it Black Screen at anything less than 1500 though.

There has been a new revision of them, they have beefed up the Power Module, added an extra VRM Set and Hynix Memory IC's.

But no Glue on the Coils anymore.
