What MMORPG are you currently playing?

for the first time in 10 years im not playing any!

Although i might go back to EQ2. I just dont like the grind and i hear theyve put another 10 levels on the max now.

AION, meh, got booted out of the guild i was in as i had the cheek to not be playing every night lol cant be arsed to log in and play it though.

Id love to see an Anarchy Online 2. LOTRO was fantastic fun but hardly anyone played it, or anyone that would socialise outside their guilds.

I just find that if you cant play every waking hour of your life you just get left behind in these games now and i just dont havt the time to sink into them anymore to keep up.

Thank god for Dragon Age :) A fabulous RPG i can take my time with.

Getting kicked out of Guild isnt a good excuse to stop playing, just appy for another...

When i played GW, if i got kicked out a Guild which i rarely didnt, i would just rage at the leader and join another which was in Guild of the Week or summin ^^

yeah well the thing was the leader was a guy i'd known since EQ1, he just seems to have turned into an uber wannabe and threw me out for lack of playtime, wasnt contributing enough abyss points to the guild lol some mate. It kinda knocked the wind out of my sails and i havnt felt the urge to log back in.

Aion atm but seriously I need to quit playing MMORPGs, it just takes over my real life. All i want to do is play Aion most of the time even though I do have problems with the game here and there.

Blade & Soul! Based on the Unreal engine and the game just looks amazing.

Edit: oops, I though the OP mean't which MMO are you waiting for :P

I'm currently trying out Dark Age of Camelot for the first time (yes, eight years too late). Basically I have recently been looking for a Viking/Norse inspired/themed MMO and I was recommended DAoC by someone because of the Midgard realm and the Norse mythology used etc.

I'm six days into the 14 day trial and am currently level 15 with a Norseman Warrior. It's ok overall, the graphics are ok considering it's eight years old, at least not as bad I as expected them to be. I don't think I will continue with it though after the trial, it just feels dated and pretty lifeless compared to a lot of the recent MMO's. This is probably due to the fact that I have started the game eight years into it's lifespan and it just seems very quiet and the world itself feels empty and boring to explore.

Ah well. I'll continue looking for an MMO to play after this two week trial ends. I'm tempted to try Darkfall but I just can't justify the price tag. The 60 euros deal for the client and six months of game time is good value for money but I just don't feel like making that kind of commitment to a game I've never played. Is there any cheaper way to go about trying out Darkfall?

Thanks.

Hehe, I used to play Midgard on Guinevere server back in the day (something like 2001-2003). Loved the norse theme, loved the game come to think of it. One of the best MMOs I ever played in its prime.

Would love a DAOC2 , but it will never happen, which is a pity.

Great times though, I suppose at least I have my memories of them :)

*Kami casts thread-resurrection*

Tombstone - wouldn't rule out DAOC2, Mythic's cash flow is drying up. WAR hasn't been a great success and it's so broken it'd cost a fortune to fix it. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to rejig DAOC instead.

They have the rights and the engine (Warhammer) to more or less port it.

Oh I wouldnt be massively surprised if there was a game called Daoc 2 at some stage in the future, but I do suspect it would only be Daoc 2 in name rather than in spirit.

One of the things which made Daoc so special (and indeed many of the earlier MMOs) was the community within them. Sadly those communities have largely gone in the newer MMOs because of the change in the average MMO player demographic. Where once players would fight out of realm pride or guild pride etc, they tend now to fight only to achieve personal "glory", guild hopping from one guild to another to get what they want, or out of a desire to get <insert specific coloured piece of uber loot here>.

Daoc had one of the best communities I've experienced in an MMO (at least on Guinevere), not as good as the one I experienced in UO, but pretty close. Part of that was down to the gamerbase back then, part of it was due to the game mechanics (mechanics which many people would whine about today and refuse to play).

So, whilst there might be a box with the name Daoc 2 on the shelves, it most likely wont really feel like Daoc 2. A shame, but at least we got to experience those days :)

I presume you are playing on the Ywain server? If so then:

/send Narzuu-Ywain4 Oi! Give me some help!

And I will :)

Part, if not most, of the fun in DAOC is in being in a Guild and working together - we'll get you Lvl 50, templated and ML'd ASAP :)

Eve online I play. find myself doing lvl 3 at the min for some ISK. Have Lvl 4's but dont think im ready for them yet although I don't think it will be long :)

DAoC was and is amazing for the pvp (well group vs group) get to 20-24 and hit the battlegrounds and get addicted. I was playing from the begining and its one of the few games I get severe urges to re-sub to.
Typing that makes me want to sign up again...

Anyone still playing Fallen Earth? That seemed fun for a post apocalypse mmorpg, but I didn't have the time past the first month.
