Hi all,
Looking for some guidance on a motherboard for 9800x3d and RTX5080 combo. £500 is my limit for Mobo. 2 x M2 drives (would like to have them pcie 5.0). Will be getting 32GB DDR5 6000Mhz RAM. And not particularly bothered about USB4.

£500 on a motherboard is a lot but if money not really an issue then any top of the range motherboard would work for you.

Gigabyte X870E auros Master would work

What RAM are you getting? Just asking as if you’re considering a DIMM config, reconsider getting a 2 DIMM setup.

I just plan on getting the cheapest Asus x870 board when the time comes to buy all the parts. I'm only going to have two Nvme drives at the most and an 8TB hdd.

From what I understand (and I am new to AMD) the main difference between the motherboards is the I/O. So if you don't want USB4 or 10gb NIC or WiFi 7, then you are wasting your money buying the more expensive boards.
If you insist on getting an x870e, then one that stands out to me is the Gigabyte Aorus Pro.
But you need to strike quickly. Prices are going up again.

We should all collectively boycott ASUS until they sort out their frankly shocking customer service. It will only improve when we stop buying their stuff.

I genuinely don't understand folks that splash out silly money on motherboards.

If you're not looking to overclock your ram like a lunatic and you're not looking for features like USB4 or latest wifi then any x670e board is more than sufficient. I picked up an 'MSI x670E Gaming Wifi' board for about £200 to go with my 9700x and it's a beast. Pushes my 6400 DDR5 no bother and overclocks my 9700x like a champ. Latest bios on such boards are fully x3D ready too...

I do feel this push to buying last gen boards is just to clear old stock lol. Probably wrong ad I usually am.

I've always typically gone with Gigabytes boards because of their BIOS and a pretty faultless (for me, at least) experience - but I recently did a build for a friend with an Asrock board and was really pleasantly surprised. I typically thought Asrock was much more on the budget side but every part of that experience with the Asrock motherboard was great!

It's been the same since forever. Why choose to pick a fight now?
I feel the same about MSI. The longevity of their boards is shocking

I generally go highend now AMD offer multiple CPU generations and motherboards are no longer a throwaway item every generation or two.
