What Next for 2020? Volcanoes of Course!

Altiplano-puna.

1% chance for an Asteroid to hit us in 7 years time, I wonder how many wonderful catastrophic events will happen between now & then

That would make a big hole. About 2.5Km in diameter and 350m deep.
The upside is that it would be an awesome lake once it fills with rainwater.

Can we add an asteroid to the list now?

As asteroids go it is quite high likelihood of hit. Luckily it's quite small so if further observations don't lower the risk at least we might be able to do something to mitigate it. Not a dinosaur killer but certainly going to ruin someone's day is it strikes close to civilisation.

Yeah, I've been monitoring the 2004 YR4 situation for a while. The relatively high probability of it impacting Earth is somewhat concerning, but it's not squeaky bum time just yet.

It has been hovering between 0.6 and 1.8% probability of an impact, interestingly they have a calculated date and time for impact but haven't published any kind of likely impact region that I've seen.

EDIT: The Wiki does have a likely track now https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_YR4 though doesn't narrow it down to a region - also mentions 1.9% probability there.

I was really hoping for zombies before we got wiped out by an asteroid but hey ho.

Volcanos, earthquakes, tsunamis and asteroids on the menu before we all end up living in bunkers in the 2030s but no zombie outbreak on the script sorry.

Altiplano Puna !

Small, of course, compared to the monster that resulted in the Siberian Traps. But, large enough to take out mankind.

I think the most likely, though, is Campi Flegrei

Yeah stock up on shovels and an axe, will be needed for zombie head shenanigans.

I’ll resist saying the symptoms are turning orange and loss of arm control.

Anyways it does sound like iceland are prepping for the main lake to overflow and stream along a previous track.
