My phone contract is up for upgrade soon, and I've been looking into getting a new phone.

The current top three that I've looked at are the lg g3, the Xperia z2, and the htc one m8

I'm kinda needing help in deciding which one to get, obviously reviews and recommendations can only go so far and I need to go and properly look at them too, but I'd like to see what other people think I should get :)

Well without knowing what you use your phone for and what you're looking for from a phone, it is pretty much impossible to advise.

Do you even need to upgrade? if there is nothing grabbing at your attention why don't you sit tight for a few months and go sim only. Save a few quid and put it towards an upgrade should one take your fancy in the future.

Sorry, I forgot to include that. I use my phone mostly for browsing the Internet, talking to friends on Facebook and stuff. The other things I use it for are music, watching videos on places like YouTube and crunchyroll (android helps me with flash video for anime) and lastly I use my phone for reading manga also, so a big screen is good for that too :)

Also I do need to upgrade since my current phone is completely dead :P

Yeah I was looking at a review comparing the m8 and the z2 last night, and they seemed very evenly matched, I need to go and feel what they're like etc to get a better idea of what phone I want

Yeah definitely go and have a play with them in hand, one of the reasons I didn't buy a z2 for myself was because I found it too large to sit in my pocket comfortably. Also I'm a tight git so the moto g appealed to me far more from a cost perspective.

I personally would probably go for the Sony. But that is just because I don't like HTCs or Samsungs. Personal preference. Just give them all a feel and a try and see what you think.

Yeah I'm a bit put off from htc myself as both my phone and my dads slowed down quite a bit over time

My gf took her Z2 back after a couple of days because the screen was useless outside, though when we compared them in the store before deciding which to get the Z2's screen was very good. She's Now very happy with the S5, which is much better.

There is also the Note 3 if you want to go a little bigger.

I like the idea of the note 3, but it seems like it'd become slower quicker in comparison with other phones (I have noticed this with phones before) especially since its similar spec to the s4

I had a look at the z2 and the m8 today, and I liked the feel of the m8 a little more than the z2, but it's not really a deal breaker, I think the power button is a bit small on the z2 but I could live with it (not like the stupid placement of the lg g3) so I'm still really torn, I think I'd probably put cyanogenmod 11 unless there are any better rooms out there?

Actually, the Note 3 also has an S800 which is marginally slower than the S801 in the S5 but vastly superior to the S4's S600. It's just that touchwiz is like the reverse Midas, it turns things into crap.

I don't mind about touchwiz, as ill probably be trying out cyanogenmod on whatever I get

Although the note 3 seems to be expensive

The One M8 is such a good phone. In addition, Sense also urinates all over Touchwiz. And the M8 just got a price cut!

The s5 is rated as having the best screen and its camera latency is faster than the iphone 5s in tests I've done in shops it also has a better screen to bezel ratio than the other phones on your list.

The thing that I don't really like about the s5 is that the build quality feels a little flimsy, but I do need to try one out a bit
