What PSU?

I like overkill, I think I'm gonna go with the XFX black edition 850w since I've read a few bad reviews about antec supplies and appearance wise the XFX would match my pc quite nicely.

Where?

I have the Antec TruePower 850W PSU and it has been battered since I got it in November last year, now OK sure I have not had it long not even 12 months but my PC is more or less on all the time and never once has it been a problem. To my knowledge Antec are a well known and respected brand name unless I missed something?

That was one of them but I'd still rather have either a corsair for the fact that it's a corsair or the XFX for the colour.

One wrong review doesnt count when the other reviews are all raving about it.

There are loads more, that Hardocp review is the only one that slagged it, they did a similar thing with a OCZ modstream 700w PSU, but then had to test it again, in which it passed.

That link shows a review of the Antec High Current Gamer 900W PSU (which can be found here ---> Click Me) that particular PSU has not been linked anywhere in this thread as far as I can tell so while it may be a bad review (I have not read it in full yet) it does not pertain to anything linked to in this thread. It is a new PSU from Antec (the Gamer series) but their TruePower series has been around for a while and are tried and tested PSU's.

PS - A little off topic here but I love your signature that is hilarious but true!

Thats fair enough nvidiot I'm sure you know more about this than me but i still prefer the XFX and corsair and the antecs all seem to be quad rail which I may be wrong but I've been told single rail is better.

Yeah I searched the wrong one but I still like the looks of the corsairs and XFXs partially for the 70 odd amp single rail design but also if i get the XFX or corsair I can get them in 850w. Unless the antecs actually better?

All the PSUs listed so far would be absolutely fine for your rig. There's really no need to worry about the number of rails for the system you're using, either. Corsair, Antec and XFX are all very good, well known "brand" names with long warranties and good track records in PSU making.

You wont go wrong with any of the suggestions you've been given here. They're all reasonably future proof. Remember that the amps of the 12v rail/rails combined is more important than the wattage, unless you're running a system with a serious number of HDs/fans/GPUs.

My Corsair TX series lasted 4 weeks before it gave up. I have replaced it with a Coolermaster pro gold 700w, the quality is superb on the coolermaster. I have not fired it up yet as only just recieved but so far i'm immpressed.

Well I can't say that they are better than the Corsair ones since I have not used a Corsair PSU but I know people who have and they swear by them, but I also know people who use Antec PSU's and they swear by them. As Kaeo said though any PSU listed here will be more than enough for your needs so I would personally go for the cheapest option out of them all if I were in your situation :)

There's always one :)

The Corsairs are very good. They are designed with quality components and have good spec, but like anything else, you can always get a duff one. It's dissapointing when you feel like the QA isn't doing its job.

It's usually me as well :( The Corsair was a superb PSU but the build quality on the Coolermaster gold is just sublime it weighs about another half of the corsair.. But it's me so it will more than likely implode on power up....:D

I'm probably going to end up looking stupid for this but isn't modular just the cables if so I'm not bothered. The coolermaster looks intresting with 98a and the gold rating... aaah I just made my mind up and now I'm more undecided than ever.

Yes, modular means you don't have cables you don't use inside your case. Depends on you case if that's a big deal really. My Antec 300 has no real space for storing cables, so modular is a big plus. Keeps it looking tidy, but the key point is that cables aren't interfering with the airflow.
