What recent phone design trend(s) do you really dislike?

It's nice the FE I just got has no glass back

Annoyances

No led notification (I resisted this for a while but caved)

No headphone jack (number one annoyance)

Best camera = most expensive
I don't care about cpu etc I just want the best camera. I don't want the premium other hardware.

This phone has a punchhole. No issue

Still need good CPU to process high quality image taken from good camera.

Als . I don't like these really tall phones. The fold and the Sony new one are way too narrow and tall

Curved screens
notches
and holepunches (I'll take a small bezel)
No jack
size inflation (more than happy with a 5" screen)
Tall/narrow screens

For me it's the obsession with "all screen" phones... Give me small bezels along the top and bottom that actually house things like face unlock sensors, RGB LED, decent speakers.
The amount of things we've lost as users all because we apparently all want form over function is nuts!

This why I love my Poco F2 Pro

No holes/notches
Mechanized selfie-cam (not that I use it) so nice thin bezels
RGB notification LED
3.5mm jack

The only aspects I would change would be to make it lighter, and waterproof. Even an SD card isn't a deal-breaker any more as 128GB is plenty.

Oh, and under-screen fingerprint reader isn't as good a a dedicated one, but not enough to really matter.

With headphone jacks and Android One / vanilla?

The Sony Xperia is 6.1" with headphone socket and I think the OS is OK.
It is also amazing with music, it's as good as my DAP player.

Glass backs don't bother me, for at least two years I found the wonderful flip covers and I wouldn't have anything else now.

Love my Poco F2 Pro, hearing android 11 coming this month. =)

A lot of phones I have to discount as I need waterproofing

Whilst nice, I have to keep in mind that I have NEVER had a waterproof phone in 22 years of having mobiles, and have also never had an issue with any sort of water damage.

Yeah I only need it because I go on the water a lot . Otherwise I wouldn't bother

When I was recently making a potential list of phones in the 500 to 600 bracket the Poco was high on the list. I made my choice and I'm very happy however a couple of weeks ago it was on sale for £259. I nearly bought one as a backup.

Yep the price has dropped a hell of a lot.

I paid £499 for 8gb/256gb from Xiaomi.com/uk back in July, no regrets at all, superb phone imo.

  • Non-user removable battery
  • Removal of headphone jack
  • Notch/holepunch
  • Curved screens
  • Increasingly outrageous prices
  • General removal of features that were present in previous generations of said device
It's the general reduction of features which really really irks me. Technology should be improved, built on the past generations. Why would you reduce the battery capacity for the 'latest' device? Get rid of expandable storage? Get rid of the headphone jack? Now there's talks of removing ports. For what? So you can use garbage, inefficient, slow wireless charging?
