What recent phone design trend(s) do you really dislike?

You mean like how a number of phones have had neither for a few years now? :p

A few phones have used popup cameras or whatever but it's hardly been the norm. Under-screen cameras are what a lot of manufacturers are working on and when they get them working they'll be everywhere.

The constant desire to upgrade speed of SoCs when nothing was taxing the previous year's chip. I mean, we don't get new console hardware until every 7 odd years and the boundaries are being pushed there more than phones.

I wouldn't mind it if battery tech had moved forward too but it hasn't, why don't they just keep the speed the same but make the chips more efficient?

Non removable batteries is the big one for me.

Curved screens, just rubbish.

Optical finger print sensors, rubbish compared to ultrasonic ones.

Lack of removable storage, used to like having my photos on that so I could swap it to the next phone.

I don't care about non-removable batteries if it gives me waterproofed phone.

Tiny changes are what bother me, give me something big everytime or just don't bother. But consumers lap it up, so why wouldn't they.

I disagree to an extent. In my experience both optical and ultrasonic FPS lag way behind capacitive scanners but I don’t feel optical is worse than ultrasonic. My OnePlus phones were far quicker to unlock than the Samsung ones.

With regards the storage and changing over phones, isn’t this what Google cloud is for?

Curved screens
Non removable batteries
No bezel sound screen (just need a small one to stop accidental touches help protect in a drop)
Glass on the back, cheap plastic would be lighter

My one plus doesn't read my fingerprints half the time where my nexus6p had no issue.
I don't use Google cloud.

I think you meant the capacitive FP scanners. Samsung use ultrasonic under the screen of their newer phones. But I agree. Optical FP scanners are pretty rubbish compared to the capacitive ones and I honestly wish they'd bring them back. When I went from a OP6 to the OP7 Pro I was shocked at how rubbish the optical FP scanner was.

Ah I see what’s happened here, the 6p has a capacitive sensor which we both agree is the best. Ultrasonic is the other in-display type.
