was about to say - wouldn't it be a complete PITA having a bezel in the middle of your crosshair - but then I got to the FS9 bit, fair play to ya.

I'd love to game with 1280x1024-1680x1050-1280x1024, I just can't afford the hardware :(

I play everything on 1680x1050 with my Samsung 223BW. If my PC can't handle a game, then I lower the graphics quality instead of the resolution.

1680x1050 ??? Wow, I had no idea this was such a popular resolution. Is this native to a particularly popular monitor size?

For the record, my maximum resolution in 1600x1200 using a 19inch Hansol CRT. However, I usually game at 1280x1024... perhaps my new GT will change that.

I use that resolution on my PC monitor (22") and on my laptop (15.4"). Because most widescreens use 1680x1050 and 1920x****, it are also the most used resolution. Playing a game at 800x600 on such a screen is just awful (unless the screen has some good upscaling capabilities).

I try to run at 1680x1050.Samsung syncmaster 226 BW.
Mainly depends what game i'm playing, or if playing single player rather than multi player. Always run at highest resolution on single player.
Will drop resolution down if needed, fps is more important to me than visuals. Sometimes that extra few fps helps.

For me the advantage of widescreen comes in FPS games, those that support it (most do) you gain extra amount of viewing angle, which for me is very useful. I went for lowest native WS, 19" at 1440*900, easy on fps and allows for more control (as you might be able to tell I'm competitive :p - don't play games for the graphics). As you say good for movies, also good I found for web browsing - lots of tabs :D I actually use dual screens, both 19" 1 WS 1 not.

Noticed you're from boro too :o, whereabouts?
I prefer 4:3 for browsing, i miss the vertical space :)

I'm in longlands :)
