What retro things have you done today?

I’m bidding on a Vortex 2 at the moment (only bidder though I expect it to go up), but just looking round at options in case the Vortex 2 falls through, hence looking at the originals.

I like the idea of being able to use my dreamblaster on a PCI card.

What are people’s thoughts on the Aureal Vortex. The original not the Vortex 2.
What kind of value are they worth?
I've got the Vortex 1 in my AMD Windows XP rig. It is a good card that supports the Aureal 3D suite for positional audio in the games that support it. (Creative had EAX).

Some of them have the wavetable header for the daughter cards. Mine has (and has an S2).

It's only the Vortex 2 that has the native PCI DOS Drivers.

Any ideas why my 486 won't detect m ISA controller card at all? It's got default / standard jumper settings and I've disabled the on-board IDE and floppy connectors (the reason being I can't seem to get the serial headers to work on the 486).

1 of these worth getting over my awe32? Not awful price and its the guy I just got the SS7 stuff from. He looks after his stuff.

To be honest I would stay with the AWE32. No idea if the 64 has proper OPL support but it only has 512k of memory and doesn't offer much of an improvement in anything I don't think.

I bet your motherboard has the “other” pin out for serial. You could modify a cable to make it work
