What retro things have you done today?

I bought a Abit VH6T Board last year for a Tenner. It had the cap rot bad so i left it in my boards box to visit it some day. Today I thought i would check out what caps it needed. It needs them all. All the big caps are popped and loads are leaking. Thought i would power it on to see if it posted. It only did. One of the caps popped while it was on steaming like a kettle and another was bubbling with some yellow fluid bubbling on the top! At least i know the board posts hahahah!

I do love an Abit board, but they did choose some pretty crummy caps by the looks of things, that said my BH6 is still working away on the originals.

Sooo my mystery box arrived today.

Only had 15mins to rip it to bits and see what was what.

I will add more pics and details later but for now I will share this image:

I will also add that everything except the PSU looks brand new without a spec of dust. And that the PC went from not working to fully working after I fully pushed down the back half of the VLB card which was not in at all.

PixelPipes has just done a video on the Kyro/Kyro II, but his results were shocking compared to mine, which is odd given that Nathan was using a more powerful system. His GeForce 2 Ti results were similar to mine, but the Kyro results (especially on Quake 3) were about 60% of mine!

I’ve queried this on YouTube comments and had a quick back and forth with Nathan, but other than driver version difference (and I ran both a v1 and v2 driver, Nathan only used v1) there doesn’t seem to be a reason. Odd.

I see "AM48.... Heatsink and Fan required" so must be a 100MHz (or greater!) Many populated caches.
Do I see a VLB slot, albeit in white?
I assume card 2 is a video card? The card below is a sound card rather than modem because of a CD line in thing on it? Last card........

The slanted/diagonal card looks like a cheap soundcard, possibly an aztech chipset.

@almoststew1990, the forum has been doing that to me all afternoon, I had to report my own posts to get the duplicates removed!

Haven’t pulled the cards yet but the sound card is one of those astechs I think. The motherboard has PCI and VLB. The cpu is dx4 100 :)

Any ideas what this long card is? Looks like it's got an ATi video chipset plus... other stuff. or the PCI video card is?

It's in Southampton so I could just pick it up which would be nice.

PCI card is a matrox g200 I think, plus theres a simm doubler I mentioned a few pages back.

The Compaq card I think is this

Probably give that a miss then!

I've started putting all my junk on eBay for under £10 with free postage. Hopefully someone out there wants a C-Media 8738 for £6 delivered...

Although I've realised a bunch of my stuff I put on there didn't have key info like... what socket it is. :(
