What retro things have you done today?

Yeh man, to be honest with the way modern gaming has been lately I find myself playing older games. Me and Bro have a huge retro collection, original games and consoles in a dedicated retro room. Just always find ourselves chilling on the bean bags playing SNES Smash Tennis haha.

Game cube does have some gems man, NHL Hitz 2002 is our go to multiplayer game.

What's your fav retro console mate? Dreamcast has to be our overall i think.

I am in the same boat, around 20-25 consoles, just sadly no dedicated room as kids playroom was more important (just :D)

The Dreamcast is possibly top of the pile for me too with the N64 / Cube a close 2nd and 3rd. Amassed a decent DC collection of 50+ games over the years when I got one just after release day, i think that overall the breadth and quality of games on that console is just outstanding always been gutted it failed in Europe!

The N64 is pretty much my younger teens wasting endless hours on Goldeneye, F-Zero X, Magical Tetris Challenge (hidden gem if you never played it) No Mercy and Mario Kart. Cube wise its THPS3, Mario Golf, Monkey Ball and Double Dash that are the stand out classics.

With the way the market has been for PC parts lately I have found myself building a pile of older games to play on my soon to be built C2D SLI box too. Can't wait to give GRID 1, Elite Force, Painkiller, C&C3, NFSU2, GTR, UT2004 and a load more some well deserved time.

Yeah I think putting Windows XP on these would make more sense, that way I can max out the RAM and I've got a 1GB MSI GPU somewhere that will go in one of these and I've got some SATA SSD drives plus more DDR2 RAM.

if they is core2duos u can probably slap in a q6600 for less than a fiver. id run win10 on those machines. heh have a system running win10 on older hardware.

I've got Windows 10 running on one of them. I was going to install Windows XP on all 3 but I needed to replace my bedroom PC which was getting very slow and these HP machines are pretty snappy especially when running from SSD so one of the machines got Lubuntu and Windows 7. I have Windows XP running on one other the 3rd HP machine has some issues with the onboard sound as well as another issue but I have tested it on Windows 10 and I get sound from the headphone port the other two have a built in speaker so does the third but isn't working only sound from the headphone port.

I raided some CEX stores for very cheap DDR2 RAM today 1 pound each for a stick of 2GB thats 8GB for each machine although the XP machine will just have 2GB or 4GM MAX as Windows XP only supports up to 4GB ram.

I'm also going to be upgrading a Dell OptiPlex 745.

This arrived today. Fantastic condition for it age, box a bit tatty but expected and it was a very good price.
Had a blast on Turrican II :) Still as I remember from the 90s

Cube was a close second for me and my brother as well. We actually sold our 30 DC games back in the day to CEX to buy a Gamecube when it came out. About 15 years ago we started collecting again as we always massively regretted selling them! We're back up to 120 CIB Dreamcast games, picked up a fully complete Samba De Amigo original few years back! The DC is such an amazing console.

Will have to check out that Magical Tetris Challenge thanks buddy! Have great memories of Timesplitters multiplayer haha.

Ah man Elite Force that's one of our favs, MOHAA, Painkiller and I recently picked up a big box KingPin fully complete :)

Ive got Free McBoot installed on my PS2 and now I need to copy my large stack of games into ISO's ready for when the hard drive adapter arrives.

I prefer playing on an actual PS2 as I seem to have no luck at all with emulators, and the real thing is more fun. Just need to find a slient fan mod now as that thing is loud.

put the base of the core 2 build together before work.......all powers on, and WONT POST!

Same CPU, RAM in the same configuration, tried the same GPU as last time, both the new GPU's....nothing.

Totally at a loss, frustrating when known working things just decide to they don't fancy playing ball :(. Hoping the motherboard hasn't just decided to croak, I have a bad history with ASUS boards pulling these kinds of stunts....reason I in general don't really like them!

Update! appears that the SLI selector card on the mainboard in the system was dirty or something, I managed to get both GPU's to boot independently with the card removed, HUGE! result, so then fully cleaned it, reinserted and both cards....its ALIVE! Windows XP Pro now installing :D

Oh and my AGP HD3850 just arrived.....time to cross the fingers

Did anyone bought from this seller? I sent them a message last week if I will receive the cards from the pictures, told me he will enquire, but never replied since. I wanted to gamble and buy one lot, but I'm sure it will be all junk. Still, I can claim that I haven't received the advertised cards as in the picture, it doesn't state in the add that you will receive random cards.
Funny how that Voodoo 2 is on the first picture..

Yeah putting that Voodoo card on the top feels like a bit of a carrot on a stick, he cant have to 10 lots with a voodoo in each.....surely?

Looking at his other items he seems to know what he is selling......

The 1st photo has the most valuable thing on top, and his other sales are cherry picked cards.
