What retro things have you done today?

My retro activity is spending actual real money on the PS Vita store (via PS Wallet, via a gift card I had to use to get wallet funds) to buy God of War Chains of Olympus, LocoRoco 2 and Bastion.

Geforce 2 GTS arrived, looks good condition other than the clock chip has been knocked off (Could see that in the seller pic too now that I look back.), will salvage one from another card and see if it is a bargain or not! :D
 
Finally cleaned up the Amiga A600 I got from a friend at work and its looking not bad.

Also got in a lovely condition Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now big box.
 
Altec Lansing speakers upgraded to a set of Ruark MK2. I love my retro speakers, only it was recently my birthday. The Ruark's were purchased with some trepidation as they are expensive. They are awesome and work really well.

Managed to source a wrist wrest for the Microsoft Internet keyboard! Mine was an OEM which never came with one! Also swapped out IntelliMouse to my favourite mouse of all time; a Logitech G400.

Modern XP system as of today, the floppy drive is now relocated to my desk.

After much game testing, I started to revisit the world of sound, and Midi, it's been five years since I last dabbled with retro systems so much relearning!

I've been watching Batocera guides - I'm thinking of setting up a dedicated ssd for my laptop as I can pickup a San disk nvme caddy ssd relatively cheaply now. Arcade punks have quite a few pre done images.

If anyone has been through this process any tips would be appreciated. I plan to get a 2tb drive so I have plenty of space to add any games I want that are not on the 1 terabyte image. My laptop is an 8 core/16 thread ryzen 8 with a 4070 (mobile version) so performance should be good
 
Nothing exciting but I installed a 3.5 floppy drive into my Optiplex 320, doubt it will be used but I just wanted to put a drive in the bay and hear it click and whir every now and then lol
 
Doing some clearing out. got a draw full of hard drives, was about to start dismantling and binning them.....but one is a 36Gb WD Raptor, any interest to retro nerds?

It's been ages since I've posted. I moved house back in July this year. And slowly, I've been moving bits in and setting up. Pictures will follow soon.

In my journeys, I had a Windows 98 machine with a SB Audigy Internal card. I followed Phil's Computing Lab guide to also set this card up for MS Dos gaming; drivers that run when you restart the PC in MS Dos mode.

The next thing I did for a recent party was network Sega Rally. This works really well and was a hit. Also on the same setup was network ROTT. The young lads were set up with 'tag'. But when I showed they could blast eachother with lead, they enjoyed that better.

Other titles that I've played have been Daytona USA, Microsoft Train Simulator, Power Goo.

I've then got the PS2 and SNES set up.

And then I've got my flight sim stuff back up too.

On a work team building day, the Wii made an appearance for House Of The Dead 2 and Darts.

Retro life is good.
 
We moved back in September - into a much larger house - but due to a different configuration of rooms and changes in priorities (family>man stuff), I am struggling to find space for all my retro gaming gear.

By definition I am now just a collector as I get precious little time to actually play any games. I’ve taken the hard decision to slim my collection down, so I can concentrate on a smaller selection and actually manage to fit it into the available space.

Not sure what’s going to get cut yet, I have a few duplicates so I guess I’ll start there. My old PCs take up a good deal of space, so that’s another consideration. Finding it quite hard as I can make a case to keep everything :D
 
Quite excited to get this cupboard all decked out with shelves and whatnot.

It will be almost solely for storing my retro stuff, but will also be a server/network cupboard and probably a bit of general storage too.

What happened there?

Couple of years ago he started calling out some of the 'retro' YouTubers for their awful stuff. Whole retro community on social media seems a bit iffy at times.
