What room is your computer in?

My pc used to be in the spare bedroom until our second child. The computer is now located in the conservatory. It does get warm in the summer and have a lot of glare but i mostly play in the evenings so it does not affect me.

I also have an htpc in the lounge and a laptop and ipad for sofa surfing.

My mrs would get annoyed at the clicking and talking (skype/mumble) if the pc was in the lounge. She used to get annoyed that i did not see her for most of the evening but we agreed that it is better that i am actually in the house rather than down the pub every night. I have also said that i am not going to watch the rubbish tv that she watches so i am doing something i enjoy instead. We will usually spend at least one evening a week where we will watch something we both like.

I'm about to get a house and wondering whether to convert a bedroom into a computer room - or let it dominate the living room.

What do you do?

What would you recommend?

Nobody else to consider, just me.

I've got my PC in my bedroom at the moment, but would definitely put it in a study/office if I could. Bedroom should be for bed, clothes & book :)

In the computer room :) Which is the smaller of the 2 spare bedrooms. Couldn't have it on in the bedroom as I sometimes leave it on over night to download stuff, or I have the odd game after the girlfriend has gone to bed.

Not had a desktop since...2006. Laptop just follows me around the flat, usually in my bedroom, occasionally on the balcony if i'm smoking or feeling adventurous. Phone for everywhere else.

Went from a 1 bed flat where it was in the dining room section of the living room, then a two bed house where i was in the living room which was quite squashed, then a 3 bed house where i had a small box room study, now in a 4 bed house with a double bedroom sized room just for my PC and bits :D

Erm ... well surely it depends on how many systems and what you use them for ... personally ...

Lounge - HTPC + Mac Mini on the coffee table for general use
Main Bedroom - Mac Mini for media play back
Study - General PC, Servers, NASes

There's also a laptop, netbook and tablet which general float around the house.

Living room, though if i ever develop a life that involves the need for a dining area it can be relegated to the 3rd "bedroom", basically a glorified storage space currently.

I'm lucky enough to have a study downstairs within easy reach of the kitchen, so the desktop is in there. Laptop usually stays in the lounge, but sometimes wanders into the kitchen.
