What self defence should I learn?

I've done a bit of boxing, karate and kickboxing.

In my experience, the only ones which might be of use for "self defence" would be boxing & kickboxing. Karate is too focused on katas.

Things like Kung Fu, Aikido etc are next to worthless in a fight. Ju Jitsu might be a good bet though, joint manipulation can be pretty helpful in a scrap.

Also - running away is perfectly acceptable. Assuming you aren't fat. Generally someone pursuing you will give up before you tire.

Actually there are stacks of different versions but there are mainly two schools which the others subsequently stem from.

Yes I know that. There are only 2 as I said, W.T.F and the I.T.F. The UK is known as the UKTF but it is nothing different from the 2 I mentioned.

My point was before you strolled off off topic was that TKD has 2 different types where one is used in an Olympic Sport. I never said WT.F was formed as an Olpympic sport, WT.F is orginally taken from IT.F and gone off in its own direction. ITF is the original form of TKD, WT.F is not.

In the end, what I said was that the ITF is not classed as a sport, but a form of Martial Art. W.T.F (have to use dots or it gets blocked) is the type of TKD that gives it a bad name. Not ITF.

I'm not saying ITF is the best martial art in the world, far from it.

General Choi is the man behind ITF, who I have met in Canada years ago, he also taught the Korean Military. I was taught ITF by Jong Soo Park a man considered a Pioneer of TKD who helped introduce it across Europe, who was taught by General Choi.
