I am about to get a Fury and use it on my BenQ XL2730Z (free sync range 40-144) tonight, just wondering should I set any fps limit on afterburner and enable vsync or not in game?

Also shall I enable the monitor's blur reduction setting or not?

Thanks guys!

I might be out of the loop here, but isn't Freesync currently limited to ~90fps, even on high refresh monitors with 144fps?

I have a Sapphire Fury and the 2730Z.

I set the fps limit to 140 in Afterburner, and have vsync off in games.

Motion blur does not work with freesync enabled, so I wouldnt use that.

And no, the freesync range for the 2730Z is 40-144hz, so not limited to 90fps.

Op I find the best without using vsync is to limit fps with msi afterburner to 140 you stay with the range and don't need vsync then.

Blur reduction don't work with freesync they are to very different tech and don't like to be run side by side.

I would recommend using 143hz with vsync can on or off, depending on the game. Some games have menu screens where the fps range can be under, or over, the FreeSync range. ☺️

it was should vsync be enabled or disabled that was confusing me, so if im right then disable vsync in game when running freesync

Either its personal preference.. Vsync enabled will stop screen tear happening when you drop below the freesync range it will also stop you going above the freesync range.

Vsync on will give you the vsync input lag when you drop out of the bottom range so below 40hz in my case.
Am a firm believer that vsync is horrible so I choose to run without it and force limit my frame rate and never have input lag or screen tear..

Must admit I've given no thought to going above the range but playing at 3440x1440 should keep that in check

FreeSync removes all the negative aspects of Vsync, so long as you are in the range. One could argue that there is no reason to disable it so long as you are in the range and games perform okay. Some menu screens can have tearing if you are outside the range, so this is my argument for having it on. Some games cause issues with Vsync on, so in these cases i disable it. If you don't mind the tear when a loading screen pops up (if you go outside the range - some games do some don't) then you may as well run with Vsync off.

TL : DR - Try both and see which one works best for you. :p

Matt am I right in thinking if I have the Acer x34 at 75hz then for freesync to work correct I would need to keep the games running below 75 fps
