Hey guys, havent upgraded my PC since I pretty much bought it loooooooong time ago. Tried playing the new warzone but its unplayable with the fps I am getting.

My specs are:
i5-9600k
gtx 1660
8 gb ram
msi z390 motherboard

I was looking at the 4060's but not sure if I should pull the trigger and go for it, so before that I would like to get some opinions. Perhaps I should go for CPU upgrade instead ie 9900. (Budget around £500~ maybe a bit more if both CPU and GPU)

Thanks. :D

For around £400, I'd be looking at getting something along the lines of a second-hand 9700k and a 3060ti for 1080P. It would produce a nice balanced system that will give you a good increase in FPS without spending a fortune.

Honestly... first thing I'd be doing is doubling the ram to 16GB or even taking it to 32GB.... 8GB is just not enough these days imo and ram is fairly cheap at the moment.

Do you have an SSD, if not that's a no brainer upgrade too..... both the ram and an ssd upgrade shouldn't cost much more than about 100 quid.

A clean install/tidy of the OS is a free boost in some cases too.

The remaining 300-400 I'd look at cpu/motherboard/gpu upgrade.. second hand would get you more for you money obviously.

Yeah completely missed the fact you're only running 8GB of RAM. As mentioned by the others, you need to be doubling that as a bare minimum.

Definitely upgrade the RAM, 16GB is good, and 32 is more future-proof. If you are running on slower storage than SSD this is a must upgrade as well. Test and see how it goes. Next, I would prob go GPU, test again and see. CPU last if needed.

Ok noted, will upgrade to 16/32 gb RAM, also 4060s are around £300, is it worth spending that extra bit for a 3060ti or perhaps a 7800xt?
3060 Ti: I would not, power consumption is quite a bit higher and the performance or VRAM doesn't justify it. 7800 XT is significantly stronger (similar to a 4070), but so is the price.

What PSU do you have Watt and rating? Your current GPU is in the 125W range. 3060ti will be 200, 7800XT 250-300, so you will need to factor in if your current power is sufficient for the future GPU and also the connector types...
