i noticed when I put it back through the main panel my db drops very low again....guys can I just plug the dsl and filter into the main socket without any ill effects???
if i get what your saying then i have that exact problem. my connection will be fine for ages then it will play up, if i plug the router into the test(hidden) socket it will work for a while then that will play up which then i swap back to the normal faceplate and that works marvellously for a while then it plays up again.
thing is i know its to do with my phoneline, 2 different ISP's, 2 different modems and 2 different sets of internal cabling cant all show the same effects but the same phoneline out side the house and same exchange can.
but BT wont do anything bout it because im not with their broadband pack, ******* and sky cant because its not their equipment which is fair enough.
an odd question but you know the internal wiring of the socket....should it have 2 wires for each insertion? i.e. the orange/white normally i seen one wire wedged in........in my cabling I have 2 for each wedge?
If you mean leaving the faceplate off and having the filer connect directly into the test socket then yes you can do that without any ill effects. You may want to invest in a filtered faceplate.
