Nope, but its funny, no one has yet to even agree that this sort of thing is wrong, and they say people deserve the governments they get...

What "sort of thing", the ID cards thing or the Tony closing the petition thing?

Ok, have fun wasting your own time :)

This government is not the sort you think it is.

This is why we can't vote for everything (no it's not because they want to rule us like slaves) and they do not use terror to manipulate us.

Where did i say anything along those lines in this thread?

I know he didn't personally close it, what sort of comment is that, contributes nothing of value, but anyway the issues are still there whether you like to acknowledge them or not, but who do you think you are calling me stupid? well you've shown just what sort of person you are.
Oh whatever, grow up dude and get a grip.

It's not an extreme twist though is it? The whole point of your thread revolved around the anger of Tony closing the petition at his own discretion.

When — as people have rightly pointed out — if you actually read the article, the petition was closed because the deadline simply ran out. So the thread means nothing.

No if people had took my post for the main issues raised they could have contributed something of value, what's with posters around here often going after the pointless stuff and not the things that matter, but regardless my points still stand.

the point is that is wasnt closed by anyone, it was closed because the petition was set with an expiry date, and that date has passed

I've not seen evidence of that, the petition probably just says that whether its closed or ended.

I think Beansprout's second response sums up my views on your actual point about ID cards.

As has been said, the main issues raised, i don't give a **** about tony just what hes done and what the government does and will do.

Well, if you actually read the article and follow the link the ACTUAL petition: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/IDcards/

This petition is now closed, as its deadline has passed.

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to scrap the proposed introduction of ID cards. More details

Submitted by Paul Neath – Deadline to sign up by: 15 February 2007 – Signatures: 27,970

Your entitled to your opinion but it doesn't make what the governments planning any more acceptable or right.

No. They. Don't. Because. Tony Blair. Didn't actually. Close the. Petition. Himself. Which was. Your Point.

Wow i can't believe how some of you get stuck on such trivial points, i really do wonder... anyway to make things easier for you...

I state that what the government does and wants to do in this regard is wrong, its an invasion of privacy and freedoms, its already has too much power, and I also may as well add it taxes us too much etc. ;)

What say you?

Actually everyone's opinion has an effect on how acceptable something is. The public opinion = acceptability, funnily enough the same thing petitions are all about.

As for attempting to give a reason as to why ID cards are being put in place, I can't word it better than how Mr Blair put it
Blair said:
'We live in a world in which people, money and information are more mobile than ever before. Terrorists and international criminal gangs increasingly exploit this to move undetected across borders and to disappear within countries. Terrorists routinely use multiple identities — up to 50 at a time... ID cards which contain biometric recognition details and which are linked to a National Identity Register will make this much more difficult.'"

It's not a trivial point because it was the only point you actually made, which was completely wrong because it wasn't even true in the first place.

As for your other points you haven't even bothered to be specific. Basically saying "the government sucks lol they rule us, what you say about that?"

I think you're just clutching at straws to warrant your thread, when everyone knows that you simply made a mistake and jumped the gun and made a thread on something you hadn't researched properly. You hadn't actually even visited the petition itself by the sound of it. :\

Thread needs to be closed.

Precisely.

The only thing missing really is someone saying "Hole, deeper, digging". Oh, there we go.

You vote the goverment in charge.......once thats happened they tell you what to do because they will look weak if they chabge their minds.....its like Iraq regardless of anything the decision has been made. Now they are slowing telling you the way its gonna be. Welcome to democracy :D

I say admit that you made a bit of a knee-jerk thread without properly digesting the information before you do anything else :)
