What sort of headphone do YOU use?

You've missed out that closed headphones suffer from a lack of soundstage and 'airiness' compared to open models. (Listen to a pair of AKG K240S if you want a good example of a nice, natural sounding open headphone)

In most cases this seems to be a common thought. There are exceptions to this rule though.

A sony Mdr-r10 has the most widest soundstage and expansive soundstage that I have heard. In this regard it is probably better at soundstaging and a creation of depth.

In my experience it does it slightly better than the fabled sennheiser orpheus.

Or comparitively the AT w2002/l3000 has slightly less soundstage width then a hd600/650 but it has more depth and their seems to be a larger soundstage height.

Just added some AKG K141 Studios to my collection which I paid £55 for. These are just hugely better than my previous Grado SR80s or my brothers Sennheiser HD565 Ovations, or anything else I've heard. Great soundstage, amazing clarity, plus the bass goes really deep. They pull detail out the Grados could only dream about, yet there's no colouration or excessive brightness. They sound stunning with classical too. Also since they're 55 ohm / 101 dB they do just as well with my MP3 player as with my CD player.

Can you tell that I like them? ;) I'm really surprised just how good they turned out for what I paid. Put me down as an AKG fan from now on.
