What sort of Pro Evo player are you?

I've been playing a lot of Pro Evo on Live! the last few weeks and it strikes me that there's at least two distinct types of player. There are those who merely try to score as many goals as possible; always trying for what I call a 'weasel' goal. Like the getting to the edge of the area and pulling the ball back for a striker or the goal with adriano just off centre in the area. Then there are the people who try to craft the best goals possible, creating nice passing moves and scoring crackers.

I place myself in the second category, and refuse to score any goals with a pull back at the edge of the area. As long as I score a great goal during the course of a game then I'm quite happy. I like to think of the person I'm playing thinking 'I wish I scored that goal'.

What sort of player are you? :)

Same camp as you, ive played about 250 games, won 130, lost 120 (ish), i dont mind losing, i would rather score a spectacular goal than just put it in the net, so i lose more than I win now.

I scored a cracking overhead kick yesterday, from 1 yard out :p

I fall into the second category.

Im always trying to volley anything that comes at the right height.

I like to try and play football beautifully like Mikel Arteta :)

There aint nothing wrong with a cut back goal. Its easy to defend against. People just never use smarts when defending it. All you do is hit X to make another player go press the ball while you control another player to cut out the pass or tackle the on coming shooter.

Its only cheap because knob jockies don't know how to defend against it ;)

I'm in the second catagory. I love to create slick passing movements all over the pitch and maintain possession. Every goal I score I try to be well worked and look good. I rarely score cheap goals unless I have to.

Anyone who wants a game just message me. :)

Love how everyone says that they are in the second catagory. Everyone I have ever played bar 1 player goes for the cut-back method.

I aim to score as many as possible, any way possible, i'll foul you when you're about to score and do anything to stop you scoring.

And no i'm not a knob jocky as some may suggest, i just play the way i want to play and make people cry :) :p

Spot on. Completely agree with you. Every single player i play against go straight for goal, none of this fancy stuff.

i'm probably the second type of pro player too. however, like freeman...i will foul my way through a game if need be!

and i'll take a weasel goal anyday if it'll win me the match :)

Got my 100 wins on ranked so I only play player matches now.

When I was playing ranked I'd score any type of goal. A win was a win. Now on player matches It doesn't count for anything so I enjoy the game and try to play attractive football.

2nd Caterory, I will go for any tip of goal, the reason I left the PES 6 league was because of the constent "weasel" goals, I could have got that on ranked games but I wanted a friendly exciting game of football, I did get that with a lot of people.

So I take it that places you in category one then. ;) :p

second category here i always try and play flowing passing football although i like to get down the wing and cross it when i hit a brick wall trying to go through the middle

i don't consider this a cheap goal what i consider cheap is people who prey on other peoples mistakes and always go inter or Brazil

this is the first sign of a snide player to me it shows they are only interested in winning not having a fair balanced game

there loss when i am in form i can take anybody the way i play they don't have answer for it admittedly this is not all the time and sometimes i get hammered by these snide players

btw what happens when people quit now ? as i have noticed this happening a lot more recently

I find that Fifa is a weasels game but bring that style of play into PES is not on, PES can have such great games, end to end, great through balls, goal mouth scrambles, awesome free kicks goals.

My playing style varies. I would play accordingly to how my opponent plays. However, those who i have platyed on here describe my style as attacking and fast-paced.

I see myself as a human computer, I adapt to my opponents style then use my own ways to beat them. I dont like cheap or easy goals, I dislike those who try to attack via the wings then place it on to the strikers - It dosent work with me, I have mastered how to counter that. :)

I've developed a whole new tactic for PES, its wild and wacky, but I like it.

It's called "winning the game"

What you do is try and score more goals than the other person, which surely is the entire point of football? :D

I used to be the sort of PES player that would go for exciting goals and nice flowing moves up the pitch.

Thats before I realised that if it got to around 80 mins and I shot it would hit the back of the net or the post everytime.
After playing PES 1,3,4,5 against my mates for at least 14 hours a week I kinda got to see the mechanics working behind the game, and now I dont play anymore.

It's a shame because I did love that series for a long long time. :(

When people quit, the victory goes to the other player. I believe the problem of people pausing the game has also been fixed with a recent patch.

The other day, though, I experienced a new type of weasality. I was playing against some guy from Italy who had an 80% win ratio or so (which made me slightly suspicious) and I scored a fairly nice early goal with a diving header at the back post then got a player sent off soon after. Scored a 2nd goal at around 60 minutes and then the other guy just started scoring own goals, as quickly as possible, from each kick off and then letting the replay run in it's entirety. He'd find something amusing in the replay, like a player's eyes closing and keep running it backwards and forwards until the game continued. I just thought 'fair enough, I'll read a bit of my book while he's messing around'. After about 45 or 50 minutes, the clock had reached 85 minutes and he must have realised I wasn't going to quit so he starts sending me loads of abuse, culminating in the rather amusing "Pig God!", which I guess is quite an offence in Italy. I won 32-0 in the end, but I really am baffled by the actions of some people.
