What SSD to get ?

I just got my Sammy 128GB and can confirm that it blazes. Installed W7 64b in a very few mins. Programs load in a flash - it's very, very good.

Got a G.Skill 128 GB Falcon and just run atto, get 201831 read and 272800 write, so not a bad buy. I put the latest firmware on 1571, I believe, when I bought it.

I've got the 256G PB22-J Samsung, when I try to extract an archive, or install a game, it appears to hang momantarily, but then it kicks in, and it's very fast (compared to my old 150G raptors anyway). It never appears to hang any other time, and windows loads quickly. Even without TRIM support, this drive is very fast indeed.
If you are running a database server, you want the intels, but for day to day use, the Sammy (or identical Corsair) is faster.

The need for TRIM will kick in sooner or later. From what i've read the samsungs dont suffer from slowdowns as much as other drives, but then again those other drives support TRIM.

all this info is very helpfull so many thanks :)
got till morrow night to make my mind up so can order one ...but looking like the G-Skill at the mo

G Skill Falcon 128gb: £270
G Skill Falcon 64gb: £150

For an extra £30, you'd be mad to not buy two 64gb and RAID0 them.

i know what you mean about having 2 in raid ....im want to get rid of the raid startup ...takes a while to boot up as takes 10 seconds just for raid controller to start ...so thats why i wanted an SSD so could remove raid making the system boot quicker .
have not really noticed that much difference between my system before raid ...and now with raid .

But do get your drift ...lol

From looking at this, and the other reviews on GURU3D about SSDs... my mind is still set on the G.Skill ;).

I'd rather take the Torqx with the *10* year guarantee! Performance for the best SSDs seems to be levelling out but as far as guarantees go 10 years is exceptional!!
