I have just ordered a £920 computer from OCUK (YAY) but want to know what the best (and cheapest SSD is for me to get) and would I use this for OS & games or just OS?
Get the Crucial, don't bother with the Force 3 as it not worth the risk tbh, Mine already BSOD on me after a day, & this is the so called the new fixed batch.
Im already considering taking it back and changing for a Crucial, might be slower but reliablilty is a lot more important, plus even the slowest of SSD drives out today are still much much quicker than any standard hard drive.
If it's just for games and OS then you don't really need fast write speeds. Go for the M4, it's fast and reliable . The new firmwire also adds a brilliant 20% speed boost .
For what it's worth, I have a brand new OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS and guess what - I get BSODs. I've updated my BIOS (had an update related to storage), SSD firmware and storage drivers and in the past ~24 hours I haven't had a BSOD. I await one with baited breath.
I had an OCZ Vertex 2E ....No problems very fast (now in flat mates PC)
Now got an OCZ Agility 3 ....No problems Extremely fast
Just so you know not all OCZ SSD's are bad. ALL SSD's can have problems, no matter who makes them. By far the most reliable are Intel, but they're are expensive.
