In work sat in front of PC. I'm always signed in to my personal google account to hop into my Gmail account occasionally.

I have our IT guy remote access my work PC to fix something, I'm watching him open chrome to get down malware bytes, he types first letter 'm' and a few very NSFW suggestions pop up based on my search history. Embarrassing to say the least.

But I nevery use work PC for NSFW anything. Those searches were made on my personal PC at home

Has something changed with history/searches now following google accounts across devices? Never seen that before, total horror show

I've noticed this, i've also noticed targetted advertising on all devices based on searches on different devices too. It's a bit annoying to say the least, although, at least i have no embarrassing suggestions, that's what incognito mode is for ;)

Chrome has done this for a while. It stores user settings and search history/passwords etc in the cloud so you can access it from any device you log in to with your Google account. It can be turned off in settings IIRC.

Also, just FYI, you can remove specific search bar history items by highlighting them and pressing Shift+Delete

You can sign in to multiple accounts on Chrome and create a Chrome shortcut for each. Add the work one on to the Desktop.

If reported your Chrome history will show which computer those sites\keywords are from.

A friend (honest) was connected to work via VPN. A server at work at scanned his computer and connected devices. His entire porn collection on his NAS was scanned and an auto-generated report emailed to him. He worried for a few weeks but no one ever contacted him about it.

if it is chrome and you're signed in with the same account as at home then this is pretty standard... likewise with safari on your iPhone/macbook etc..

I'd suggest using private browsing or perhaps installing another browser and only using that browser for that sort of thing (and don't have that browser easily available or set as default). there is just all sorts that could go wrong, not just the scenario you outline but say someone is with you and wants to show you some funny youtube clip or their phone ran out and they want to just log into their e-mail account or show you something on Facebook etc..etc..

lastly I'd not log into any personal accounts at work anyway, if you want to check your personal mails then best to just keep your own phone handy on your desk
