Also, to the dislikers, why?

no replaygain
terrible ui
no masstagger style functionality
no plugins
a zillion other things

if you're going to use a rubbish media player you could at least use winamp

What's all this talk of 'Windows'? What on earth is that? I have windows in my house, but I don't understand how this relates to computers!

I've seen it occasionally hogging resources on laptops i have been given to repair. And every time i have tried to run it, it's given me some error and crashed. I thought is could've been some sort of ipod spyware - by the sounds of it, it probably is!!
I thought ipod had issues with sharing copyrighted music and your saying its like a 'ipod music sharing thing'. Hmmm, how does that work?

Think i'll stick with winamp and emule personally ;)

That would be useful, although personally I enter all the track information myself to guarantee it's accurate.

I think iTunes has everything it needs already, no plugins needed.

I think iTunes is one of those things you love or hate. I personally love it, as I've said earlier I don't think I could have a PC without it. Sure iTunes isn't perfect but for iPod users and the general public iTunes is a very good application :) The only thing that is starting to put me off iTunes is it's starting to get a BIT bloated since V6. I don't want iTunes to manage Movies, Apple should just keep iTunes for Music and music videos, it is called iTUNES after all.

I love iTunes, its one of the first thing that goes on a fresh install. It is only for music in my eyes. The network sharing rocks too.

iTunes would be approaching alright if there weren't several good alternatives out there.

Personally, having spent the last few months trying to find something better than Winamp I settled on WMP11.

For me, iTunes library isn't as easy to navigate. I don't need it to do anything other than browse and play music either. And if I needed it for iPod connectivity, I'd probably use something like Anapod.

Also, I hate the fact that there's no stop button :p

so much free music.

Yep your right there, I find it IMO very good, it has got a bit bloaty though since v7, but when you've got an very good PC who cares!

It is all about the album art people, they did steal some stuff from WMP11 though in iTunes 7.

I use Winamp but when I upgrade my rig/format and run Vista I'll probably switch to WMP, simply because Winamp development is stagnant.

iTunes is too bloated.

How do you display/view cover art when viewing shared library over network in iTunes?

It's a shame isn't. I mean sure we get security updates but that's about it. You have to search for a half decent theme (clearONEbeta) and then people charge for there pretty crap plugins. Media Center which I have started using today is very nice. But like you when I buy a Zune, I will probably use WMP.

what happened to the foobar crowd? I've still never tried it and haven't used winamp in years - recently I've only been using itunes because it does everything I need it to and is really easy to use. But i've just upgraded to vista and itunes doesn't like it so I've been using WMP11 and it's ok, but I'd prefer itunes if it worked well on vista, partly because a lot of my music was ripped by itunes so wmp wont add it to the library.
