Looks like a mobile phone jammer to me, they're technically illegal too.

Could be any old RF device, waiting to find out.

I got about 5 J570's left! Huge ass 38mm dia High power rocket motors! We could launch it, blow it up, burn it, anyhting with these babys!

Kepp it as it be a one way ticket if Bush and Brown team up then were all dead!

I think we were all agreed it was some sort of home made wireless camera thingy.

Ah but some of us dont like pages of the manly variety, we like soft beautiful pages of the womanly variety. :p

According to the OP the landlord said it has been there for years so it could quite possibly be a wireless camera, modern ones are a lot smaller than that though, which is why its a little odd at the size of the "lens". The antenna looks like quite a powerful one that would broadcast or recieve over a large area too.

I really can't wait to see what it is. :D
 
I can't believe all the speculation on what it might be, it's OBVIOUS! It's a wi-fi enabled air-freshener, like them ones you always get sprayed in the face by in your local Wetherspoons, they hide the antenna though so you never suspect the bar staff of giving you quick blast, this is clearly an inferior model.
