Yer nan's knickers
Seems a lot of self righteous threads are on the boil so I thought I'd add mine.

This video is from the thread about being overweight. Watch the first 35 seconds:

Chick talks about someone who " denied their thin privilege" and goes on to blabber (!) about other nonsense excuses as to why she's a bit overweight.

My question, as someone who thought that "privileged" means "well off" or "in a position of influence" is, what the blithering **** are these people talking about?

Its basically "you've not said anything racist/sexist/offensive but I've not really got any other arguments so I'm going to accuse you of them just by the fact you're alive"

Americanism and it's all about what Tefal has said.

White privilege. Fat privilege. Thin privelege. Rich privelege. First world privilege.

Just a vain attempt at defending her fatness and detracting all responsibility for her current state. It is not a 'privilege' to be thin.

So basically "I'm fat and you're not so you're privileged" kind of crap.

I can totally see how blaming fit people for you being a porker works out.

Also, I'm not rich but others are so if they could please stop exercising their wealth privilege that'd be great.

Oh in tbe fat acceptance casebit can also mean

"You've made far better life choices than me and so have a much better quality of life, this is unfair, i cant be held responsible for my own choices and actions so you must have some unfair advantage. I'll now lecture you about how I'm not a glutton but a valiant underdog fighting against insurmountable odds of an awful foe"

Well ****.

I just watched a bit more, and, well, "they'll never be oppressed because they'll never have to pay for two aeroplane seats".

Can someone stop the world please? I'd like to get off.

America, different culture and weight is probably her escape route from other problems, many people have this. Did you not post a picture of a family member to be thoroughly degraded on here btw?

isn't it just a term to mean you are part of x percieved majority, therefore any opinion or experience you have in relation to y minority is tainted by your "priviledge" of being part of the x majority.

for example, on sexism, how can a man possibly understand or sympathise with any woman when his privilege of being a man (which presumably comes with better job prospects, better pay, more respect in the workplace and never experiencing the pain of childbirth) taints his viewpoint.

or alternately it could be a bs term to try and give moral high ground to anyone with a point to argue when they percieve themselves to be the underdog.

Isn't 60% of the population o ease noe though?

Fat privilege!

What is with some of these people and bright pink/reddish hair? Even teal. Quite unreal. Fat "Heffalump" Blogger.

The woman in the Sky News clip... 380lbs and says she has no high blood pressure, how is that possible? Or even cutting their toenails.

Loved the one with the fitness guy and her saying it is a loaded question.

Because she's fatfit it's when you get to a point of being so fat that anyone who dares criticise your fitness gets their heads bitten off thus people stop querying it and you become fit via lack of challenge.

I am not a fat hater (I don't hate myself that much).

I'd like to know what percentage of the population actually have a problem with their genes regarding weight. I bet it's a tiny number compared to the amount of seriously obese people there are.

To quote Ricky Gervais:

'No, planes don't cater to fat people, because then we'd only get 12 people on the ****ing plane'

might as well...
