I have £10K sitting in the bank (ISA) earning interest. Sucks but what can you do.

I currently rent in Cambridge, it isn't enough for a deposit to buy a place. Salary isn't great either, just over 20k. Am 25, no spring chicken :).

Any suggestions..

10k? Pah! Spend it on a car.
Me, I've got £100million sat away earning interest. I dont really need all my money either - have you got any ideas how I should spend it?

Watch - I have a Rado an ex bought me for a present.

I have a 26" LCDTV, so no need for new one yet.

I was thinking of a car, but then all my money is gone and the bills are more. Maybe an SLK200 or Z4, obviously not new.

House or leaving it where it is seems the best bet. I just wish there was something i could do, like invest it in a business of some sort. I don't know.

Did you wait untill the ISA hit the 10k mark to post? You should have posted the thread when you had £9,999.

No i have around nine and a half in the ISA, rounded it up because of what i have in my current account.

The sensible thing to do is to keep it as an ISA earning instrest and save until you have enough for a deposit on a house,

personaly though (as I'm far from sensible :D ) I would plan a kick ass world trip, don't forget to include the Tonga islands.

Sounds good, the trip does.

I am going to Hong Kong next month for two weeks to visit a friend, then in July going to Cyprus to spend time with another friend. He invested in property out there before they joined the EU and has made some nice coin. Holiday villas.

Why can't i be this lucky?

Money = Doesn't make you happy.

Love = Makes you happy :)

Why do you need to ask about this now ? If you had enough sense to save it in an ISA over the last few years - you must know what options you have to save/spend it.

I too have a lot of money in an ISA (the Wife also) - but don't feel the need to state the amount or need to ask what to do with it. Its in there earning 5.6% - so we get a nice windfall next week when the interest comes through.

I would use it to buy an automatic bragging machine, so you don't have to spend time creating threads like this manually. :)

The idea was to save it to buy a property with the ex, failed as we split up. Now i am looking in to my options, i thought you guys might have some ideas.

You are lucky enough to be in the position to just leave it. House prices are going up all of the time, and people have been telling me leaving it in the ISA actually loses me money compared to putting it in to property.

Samtheman1k: So what are you if you love money?

Can't say i know, but the older you get the more you start to realise materialistic things don't matter as much. :)

The guy just asked what to do with 10grand, it's hardly a sin just asking is it  I hardly think he's showing off, 10grand is chump change these days anyhow.
