to me dirty disc errors means the DVD drive is knackered. this fix is for RRoD and gpu/scaler chip problems so it probably wont help you. but if its out of warranty its always worth a shot
My x-box used to give dirty disc errors all the time and i've given up on it now, i understand this is the precursor to the RRoD. Microsoft wanted £50 to fix it so i didn't bother in the end, does mine sound like the same issue?
I'll give you £5 if you eat it and post the evidence.
I just won a RROD 360 from an auction site for £21. Gonna give this a go when I get it - already have a X-Clamp kit and AS paste.
The above post worries me now that it may have been a waste of money
When I get it, is there any way to tell how old the console is to see if it's still under the 3 years warranty?

Well I wouldn't fix clamp etc until I get a replacement etc from MSWould make no difference if you bust the warrenty seal opening the case I'd imagine.
Cheers. Think my old LIVE account might still be active - will check it out online and see.By checking the serial code on the Xbox Site. You might need an account.
