what to do with free time?

build a model railway :D

Whether said in jest or not, this is precisely what I was going to say.

I also had a massive scenic Scalextric track but got bored racing on my tod so ripped it up and currently building the above 19x10 giant!

I also know someone who was injured in the army, he began building tanks and dioramas to rebuild his motor skills and now its become a major hooby for him.

said for truth as I do it myself

thanks for the suggestions guys, i cant do anything physical or move about much so photography, cars is out of the question :)

i think CAD, CSS, Web design, Poker sounds good

As others have said, the possibilities are pretty endless.

You could learn a language, programming, html, an instrument (apparently my Uncle learned to play the Piano when he was 55:eek: ), write a book etc :)
Take up painting/drawing, model making etc.

slight hijack - I've just about finished the fiddle yard which has taken about 10 weeks. Aiming for all track laid by this time next year.

Are you on any model rail forums - do you have a layout yourself?
