What to do?

When you say "depressed", what exactly do you mean?

Are you unhappy, annoyed, disappointed, and what at? Either you're clinically depressed, in which case you should seek help, or else there's some logical reason for you feeling the way you do. In which case you should work out what it is, and plough through anyway. You're doing good A Levels, and you'll probably get onto a decent uni course if you do well. Even studying something like German History which you say you enjoy.

Thats one thing i dont know, never been great with the whole different feelings thing.

I know i feel absolutely pants and just think "Urghhh, i want to be happy" lol.

I dont like using the word depressed but it is the best way to describe it.

OP- Do you get involved with stuff at college? Sports, clubs etc? I thoroughly hated my 1st year of 6th form, then in the 2nd year just though "screw it" and got involved with as much as I could. Ended up being one of the best years of my life :)

I play rugby, go the gym nearly everyday.

Its weird as im not the sort of recluse you'd expect to hear this story coming from, without sounding big headed, i have a thriving social life.

I know what you mean, I'm pretty similar at times-do a lot and have the occasional unhappy phase-I guess everyone does to be honest. Is yours more than a phase though? How long's it been going on?

Quite a while now, number of months.

People say you have to have the downs to have the ups (Or vice versa) but everything seems to just be one boring line for me.

Cheer up mate, it can't be all bad, I'm sure you have your friends to talk to and have fun with. Sometimes skipping can be helpful to clear your mind but don't do it too often as you'll miss important stuff and fail (if you want to drop out you can, just don't sit around and fail!). CISCO is a good subject for the future if you want an IT job, I'm doing it at my sixth form and both teachers I have are excellent, if you get good teachers it really is a help. Maybe speak to one of them, a sympathetic one would be best :P

I'm enjoying sixth form to be honest. It's a laugh and it's not as hard work as I expected, with the exception of quantum physics :E

It is slowly getting down to that stage where it's just a bore though... I dunno. It depends what you have lined up for the future.

Its not just a bore, i could live with that.

Im genuinely unhappy with my life atm.

It sounds to me like you just need a life overhaul. If Sixth Form is making you unhappy, change it. As long as you're earning money and have an ongoing plan you should be ok. I know you have your guitar, but maybe try taking up a new hobby?

Hey all, sorry for this soppy thread first off.

Im in a bit of a predicament and i dont know what to do :(

Basically, im at 6th form at the moment and i hate the place. Not just the "Urgh i hate school" type of hate, i come home and im depressed and just hate everyone and everything.

I didnt go in today, went out with a mate all day and this evening im feeling fairly happy and nothing really is on my mind. But when i go to college, i come home and just everything is on my mind, the only way to describe it is depressed.

I want to do well at college, but i just can't seem to stand it, i dont know what it is that makes me go like that.

I have the choice, drop out of sixth form, be hated by my family and work full time until next September, where i look into starting normal college and doing something there

OR

Stick it out at college being depressed and getting crappy grades, not be hated by my dad/family.

I know this thread is REALLY pathetic, but i just have no idea what to do tbh :(

Thanks for putting up with me,
Dan

I had the exact same problem, literally hated 6th form last year and wasn't doing well as I didn't enjoy it at all.

I spoke to my family about it though, and they agreed that if I didn't enjoy it at all there was no point staying. However I did my exams as this was about two months or maybe a bit less so I thought I may as well.

After that I dropped out, and then this year I went to a proper college and I've been enjoying it a lot more than 6th form.

My advice is that if you really do hate it, don't waste your time there - you can leave and then work and save up lots of money and then go back to normal college next year where you will have a better time.

I've been in this situation.

I'm not thick, nor an idiot, but really struggled going to college. I was having anxiety problems, felt sad all the time, and couldn;t concentrate on any of my work. I dropped out, tried again, dropped out, then finished a year but did terribly.

I'm 2 years out of college now and feeling much happier, but have been struggling to have permanent work so I'm down about that but not half as bad as I was back at college. However I'm now looking at going back, doing an access course and getting into uni. Well that's my backup plan as I have a few big interviews in the coming weeks that could give me a decent job for the next few years until I figure out what I want to do with my life.

If you're thinking about a lot of things, constantly, then put those things down in a list, on a bit of paper. You'll start to find your mind clears and you'll sleep more easily.

I think you have a good plan with working til September and going to college. It may have all the same courses as a 6th Form, but you'll have a lot more control over what your timetable and give you more responsibility.
