According to Oblivion performance tests, the game doesn't benefit from 512MB as opposed to 256MB video memory. Call Of Duty 2 and many other games definitely do, though.jrodga2k5 said:512mb of ram will be very handy with the unreal engine 3.0 (when games come out) at 1280x1024it certainly is in Oblivion

Don't you mean the 256MB version?Skyline said:Right... I have decided... That i am going to go for the X1800XT512Mb mainly as its only £195 + VAT on this week only...![]()
As far as I could see there were no 512s on This Week Only, only the PowerColour one or something in the graphics section for around £250.Skyline said:Nope i thought it was £179 for the 256 and £195 for the 512... Both plus VAT... Guess i have missed them now though... Guess it will be the 7900GT then...![]()

MonkeyMagic said:Nope definitely 195+VAT for the Powercolor X1800XT 512 mb last week, just got one and flashed it to XT PE speeds, 5200 marks in 3dmark06! Oh and Oblivion with HDR and AA is gorgeous.
easyrider said:How much AA are you using with HDR?
What frame rates are you getting outside?
egt said:I can promise you, it won't be many. Even my [email protected] Ghz plus a nice clocking x1900xtx struggles with anything above 2XAA+HDR in Oblivion. Indoor areas are fine but outdoors is unplayable.
ORLY?easyrider said:Its amazing how many talk of AA and HDR in oblivion and only the ATI cards can do it.
But with decent ammounts that would be noticeable It would be unplayable
