Been shown this by a friend as a potential replacement for my 330D

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...radius/1500/page/1/postcode/bs167ea?logcode=p

Fits my criteria very well:
- Non BMW (wife is very against them given my current expenditure. Yes i know all cars have the potential for bills but women are women!)
- Petrol
- Auto
- very accessible boot (without being MASSIVE)
- interesting

Apparently the scooby auto's are quite good, though not cruisers (not a bad thing also given my commute).

Potential pit falls?
- turbo
- auto box
- no mention of mileage
- guessing its an import? (is this a problem?)
anything else?

an auto scooby

i dont consider myself an expert, but the first thing I thought when I saw that was

WTF???

engine is bullet proof pretty much, there are loads of potential issues but none that occur more than others, check it drives straight, idles smoothly, brakes without juddering and drinks a tankful of petrol in a few minutes - if it does all of the above its a sound car :p

that was my thought Will Gill! i've seen the older style ones but not those, which makes me think its an import.

I tell you what though, being an auto it's much less likely to have been through the "rag it and not care" brigade.

Interesting thought, but if its been imported here then it was done so by someone very keen on the car? Again that could be a good thing, why import a car that you will specifically rag to ****!

traction control too, I'm guessing thats a rubbish auto box equivalent?

I'm off to read up on subarus, clearly my knowledge has a huge gap in it!!

oh that nearly happens on a weekly basis, its only my fondness for my penis that stops me, her in doors would remove said relic violently if I got one again :(

I got my hands on a 330S a while back thinking in might re-light my fire.

My spare time, my OCD and my wallet all breath a sigh of relief.

Haha, now that is bad. You need to butter her up with something equally as desirable as the scooby for you.... wedding ring?!

magical things those little rings ;)

no not those rings! the expensive metal ones!

I'm a huge die-hard scooby fan and I would not recommend that car.

An auto Impreza would be like marrying the hottest woman you could think off with sweet boobies and then discovering she hasn't quite saved up enough to have her penis removed.

Is it has to be auto fair enough, just don't get an auto Impreza - even worse if its an import because insurance will be higher and it will rust badly without being undersealed.

Are you saying that imported cars are not undersealed as standard?
If so, easily sorted / done?

AFAIK it needs to be done as soon as they get into the country or the rust won't really go away.

Still, an auto Impreza will be horrible.

That is an import, yes. Auto box with probably be the 4EAT box, which is pants :D

As an import it has more power than your usual WRX, but if it hasn't had a remap when it came into the country, could be running badly.

i like that shape on scoobs

my favour in law had a green wrx one and a few other models it wasnt auto though. he currently has a rb320 which is very nice and not to common
