What to raise memory latency to?

Hi there, currently running 2Gb of XMS2 C5 PC2-6400 at 800MHz with 5-5-5-18 timings, but I'd like to raise my FSB. Upping voltage seems to have made no difference to the ability to POST over 420MHz FSB so want to try slackening the timings. What's the "next one down" in terms of timings? 6-6-6-? Thanks

As the others have said, also u could have them mobo use spd settings, as in having it on auto, thats what i allways do when running 450+ fsb, as im to lazy to test what my memory timings will do over 900mhz lol.

Yeah, tried upping volts to 2.1V with NB to its max 1.4V with no effect whatsoever. I think I may have hit a wall with my mobo tbh (fsb is only rated to 1333MHz, though advertised as 1600 OC'd), but wanna try other routes if I can.

Yeh you may have hit a wall if it dos'nt offically support 1600fsb, and u allready have it overclcocked above spec.

Im happy my little P35 will reach 2000 :D, and iv not found my wall yet, memory limited lol.

Yeah dude, that's just CPU-Z giving the rated timings for 2 different memory speeds. They're actually both running at their stock 800 now, seeing as my comp shats the bed eventually on any OC over 400MHz FSB, which is extremely vexing considering my processor is easily capable of much more. Starting to consider upgrading my mobo after only 2 weeks! What with that and all the other errors I've been getting (frequent BSOD, WMP and firefox regularly crashing, etc.) I'm starting to feel I shoulda stuck with xp on my old P4 :P

Yep, it's my board. dropped fsb and raised the dram divider, my memory is now happily running at 860MHz, which is well above the wall I hit at 840. Cheers for all the help guys :)

Kinda sucks, but atleast u can get it to the advertised 1600, even though its not officially supported.

Im just glad when i got my mobo last year, i went for one with official 1600 support, even though i knew id never use any 1600fsb cpu, way way to costly lol.

If you are looking at another mobo, Msi P35 neo2 FR, Abit abit ip35 pro are excellent clocking mobo's but would have to get 2nd hand.

Any of the asus P5Q range are top notch too, also most of the mid range gigabyte P45 boards too.

X48 wise the foxconn black ops is a beast of a board, but has an awfull lot of bios tweaks that might scare some off. DDR3 too so would need new memory.

Also this Asus P5E3 Pro Intel X48. All iv mentioned are under £100 either 2nd hand or new.

And u can allways sell on ur mobo to recover costs, or just stick with it and have your cpu running max at 3.6ghz so the mobo dos'nt go over 400fsb.
