ye it was, is that enough to not bottleneck with a 7970 card though?

also i tried 3.8ghz, i got to windows but after loading desktop pc kept restarting :( so ive gone back to old seetings, now i boot my pc, it loads fine except the extra sound of everything kicking in doesnt happen, just stays on the quiet inital startup sound.. if that makes sense? and theres like no lights on in the pc.

i find it hard to explain, im just used to the sound. Like i turn it on, lights come on in the pc, on the mother board etc, its a steady sound, then suddenly it usually kicks in and the sound gets loud like things geared up and and started running full go?

ye they come, usually when they go out, that different sound occurs.. but the sound isnt coming. just stays at the really dull sounding no power kinda sound

so what do you think the prob is? to me it looks like the CPU cooler fan isnt spinning as fast, ie like the pc isnt kicking into some kind of turbo mode :| iios back to normal settings but still no luck . I dont get why its just suddenly started :s

I reset CMOS again, and picked the OCUK profile, original one, and boom that new sound kicked in. so sumit mustve gone wrong somewhere :( now im back to original 2.6ghz lol.. successful day overclocking :( i feel so useless when it comes to this stuff! im detirmined to get there though!

wait. i just loaded bios, and it seems all settings diffrent.. so your right! looks like an already overclocked profile lol, to 3.4ghz :D

hahahha just my luck, altho good luck i spose i found the profile :D.. i think il stay at this though, thats enough overclocking for me!! lol

3.4ghz is more than enough to match a 7970 right? so ima buy one and an ssd or something. Will upgrade to windows 7 to, but if i buy the upgrade option il have to install vista on the SSD first correct? then upgrade it

Ok so can anyone advise me on windows, etc.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-009-CR

Im gonna buy this along with the card etc but, when i get it, do i need to format my current HDD to get rid of vista? and can i do that without losing all my files? then install the SSD, install windows 7 on that then boot from the ssd?

also one thing with the 7970, it needs a 8 pin connection + 6 pin, i only have 6 pin connectors i think currently connected :S

but for example, if i do all that, wehen my pc is running will the windows 7 on the sssd conflict with the vista on the HDD though? like will some of those vista files still be running? i guess not?
