I need to remove the top from a toilet cistern inlet valve

I 99% know what part I need but just want to check before I order (mainly as there is 2 versions one which only comes in a kit of parts)

But I am struggling to unscrew it. My largest spanner isn't large enough and I just cant get enough leverage by hand. Its made difficult as its a whisper flow or something, means along side the bit I need to unscrew is another bit which means you can't just get your hand round it and my fingers tips don't give enough purchase!

Secondly I cannot find any water isolation point, so I am going to be faced with incoming water I think. Is there any easy way to avoid this?
Is it possible there is some isolation other than right alongside the toilet?

Its not this exact model but a slightly earlier version from same manufacturer.
Ideal Standard Alto Close Coupled Toilet, its in effect built in as its boxed in just behind the pan. Being tiled I really don't want to have to remove them!

Help greatly appreciated!

First job I would do, if you can access it easily, is put a valve on the inlet pipe.

The whisper flow ones usually just have a piece of loose plastic sheet or something for the water to run down, I think it's just to stop it splashing into the water fully.

Do you have a basin wrench? Sounds like that's what you need.

If you can't turn water off anywhere you will get wet - Before you unscrew anything turn any cold water taps fully on - it will reduce pressure where you are working.

Personally I would look for incoming stop tap.

Your isolation point is probably under the cistern so you would have to remove to boxing covering it all.
Failing that, turn your water off at the mains and open your cold water tap (at the lowest point of the house).

Pics would help.

What exactly is the problem?

There is literally no access to any pipework, its probably under the boxing in if there is any isolation.
Yes the whisper has a piece of plastic dropping down, but its the right angle that's getting in the way at the top. Basin wrench could be what I need

That's what I was wondering, there is quite a lot of pipework in the airing cupboard but I think that's because its pressurised. I may look for any cold pipes with any isolation its possible it runs across to the ensuite and its isolated in there

Problem is a leaking inlet and also I think outlet on the cistern. Its quite bad, one of the other cisterns also has a leak on inlet only I think.
Was wondering about draining the whole system with main stop tap off. We do not have a loft tank just a small pressure vessel at the top of the airing cupboard, as above I may be able to see if this can isolate and just drain from here.
I am unfamiliar with pressureised systems never had one before.
Will look at some pics late

Thx all
