Bought a pc the other day,
Specs are



CPU - Intel Xeon e5 1620 v2

Main board - Intel x79

Ram - 8gb ddr3

Graphics - Radeon rx 580

Ssd - kingchuxing 500gb


Not running how I want it to,

what can I do/change to make it run better for gaming?

I’m a complete novice, this is my first machine. I’m unsure of psu, I’ve been told it’s watercooled. Is there anyway I can find out?

as for budget, i want to do this over time so it’s not really a problem. thanks
 
Replace the SSD, Add more ram would be the cheapest upgrades. £300 watercooled, I think thats a tad expensive for that spec considering how old it is.

If the system is Watercooled/AIO you'll see all the tubing running from the CPU to a radiator...

It would be good to find out what PSU it has, just incase you replace some parts and it pushes the PSU to far and fails... Its not often the case but you never know with some second hand builds
 
If you can find out the exact PSU you have, maybe take some pictures of the inside of the machine, it'll help us to know what we're dealing with.

Off the top of my head I'd say the most beneficial/cost effective upgrades would be a hexa core CPU to replace that quad should your motherboard support it and another 8GB of RAM.

I'm hoping your motherboard isn't some random Chinese board.

Your SSD right now is a SATA one. Replace it with something like this:

Use a cloning piece of software to transfer the OS from the old to the new. Macrium reflect is solid enough to do the job. There is software to scan your PC for make & speed of RAM, CPU-Z will tell you.

Ah okay, like i said previously I am new to this and was going off some advice of a friend. He said it was a good deal
