You think getting the right vits and minerals is make belief?

I think like most obsessions, unless medically diagnosed as requiring supplements, the vast majority of people merely take them because of "reasons" and would be completely fine without them.
This isn't the dark ages and i hope people here have decent diets and lifestyles that supply their bodies with all they need.

But feel free to have some of the best nutritional urine on the forum.

Like i said i probably have a bona fide medical reason to take the D in winter, found no gain from it though.

Probably because taking it in winter kept you at baseline. It isn't a stimulant you know?

I agree people do silly things with things like this, but a lot of evidence backs up the handful of good ones - d3/k2 for sunlight, omega3 if you don't regularly eat oily fish/glucosamine for dodgy joints.

You're sounding like someone in the dark ages if you can't see past your very narrow view.

The thing about health and nutrition is there's no 'bio-hacking' or OMG I FEEL SO HEALTHY - there's baseline 'stuff is working as it's supposed to' which just involves feeling normal, and then degrees of 'stuff not working as well as it could' which you notice more the worse it gets.

Take the functioning of your immune system which Vitamin D has a part in: if you get enough UV exposure or supplement and this contributes to levels in the right range and the system working properly you don't physically feel it but you might notice you don't get as many colds as you used to. Or if you catch one it doesn't knock you out as easily compared to if your immune system wasn't running at 100%. At the other end, you can't and wouldn't want your immune system to be at 120% though, as that leads to all sorts of horrible conditions where your body attacks itself.

Like I don't feel my increased bone density from diet/training. Someone with low bone density won't feel that either. If one of us takes a heavy fall though, I know I'd rather be me than them.

Its fine you completely summed up my opinion. Its not narrow.
Completely agree with your stuff about the "good ones" but that's not what im mocking.

Cool so have you been medically advised your bone density was low or is it just something you think is nice to have..
Good for you if you have, glad you got it sorted. IF not then are you paranoid about your bone density or just? i dunno its the kinda thing im talking about. weird obsessions.

yes i know im being pedantic, don't take it personally.

Earth, for now
Not really a vitamin, more of a supplement....Even tho I was sceptical about any benefits I started to use both hibiscus and beetroot to see if they could help with my blood pressure control.
I did read that there "could" be some evidence that both of these could help, altho what I found wasn't conclusive.
My doctor was fine with me adding these, hibiscus made into a tea to drink and either eating beetroot or drinking juice that was bought.
After a month of using both I noted that both my systolic and diastolic BP came down consistently, around 12 to 15 for the systolic and 8 for the other.
This has enabled me to lower my BP medication and in turn that has improved the side effects quite a bit that I was having daily whilst on the higher dose of medication.
Not sure if it will allow me to reduce again but at least I am pleased with the results that I have achieved and its no big deal to supplement what I need to do if it means taking less medication.

I also use ginger, chopped and made into a tea. It can be bought in a 1kg bag dried and chopped. I am hopeful that helps as an anti inflammatory. Along with using an infra red lamp daily that might help me to keep physically active and walk daily. I have a pretty bad chronic back condition and grade 4 arthritis with my left knee. Not much to be done medically with the knee apart from replace it, according to the specialist I saw.

Both me and my wife have started a taking a vitamin D supplement, taken wit ha meal that includes fats, and will continue to do so until spring or so next year. Perhaps that might be a green tick in the good box, not sure if either of us will know for sure. It might have been a good idea to have our vitamin D levels checked, possibly have to pay privately for that, before doing so. Then again what our levels are like now might be completely different to that of what the could be over the winter period.

Apart from the above we just eat healthily, six or more portions of veg and fruit per day and oily fish around three times a week - probably the mercury is stacking up now :D
