Lol, 5 years. I feel bad for OP as I've been in the same situation with a song, which genuinely must have taken me almost 10 years to find. Of course back then Shazam didn't exist and every time it was played on adverts and shows they only used the music without any lyrics. What a bummer. In the end I finally found an orchestra version of it through sheer luck and someone on here identified the proper track! So yes, good luck OP.
I had a song in my head for nearly 25 years! I suspected it was a particular band, so every few years I'd trawl through their youtube vids and spotify songs looking for it - to no avail.
Eventually I recreated the melody with a crude online guitar app and emailed it to the singer of the band. What I didn't realise was he was now a DJ on an Irish radio station. They called me while I was at work and I ended up live on his show while he played my crappy clip on the air. A viewer emailed in and solved the earworm mystery. It wasn't even his band in the end
