What was the bmx with the plastic yellow wheel rims called?

I had a Grifter back in the day

Am sure I remember that dam thing being really heavy :(
EDIT: I just looked up the weight 35kgs :eek:

And on those old bikes, didn't you risk punching yourself in the gonads if you tried to change gear quickly and your hand slipped off the lever, or was that just me?

Yes on the chopper you changed gear by using a lever that was between your legs :eek:

Not sure why this picture shows 5 gears as the chopper only had 3 gears

On the grifter you changed gear by twisting the right handgrip if I remember right

We had a 15 metre drive that led into an old farm yard, the ramps we used to build and fly down and jump over each other.

Also fun was when the farm over the road had its silage heap empty, it was a natural concrete BMX playground.
