hi guys,

one of the lads on here asked the question, what was you're first hard drive? I don't like to get hung up on nostalgia but that question has taken me back in time by over a decade.

I was wondering if you guys could remember what the first game you ever played on a PC was? if my memory serves correct, which isn't saying much these days, i think one of the very first games that i played was either Duke Nukem 3D or Doom. If i remember right, they had to be installed through floppy disk drive because CD-roms were virtually unknown then.

The first game I played was on a DOS pc, and you were basically a gorilla, and you had to throw a banana at another gorilla by specifying the angle and velocity. And it made things interesting by having different types of scenery and wind and stuff. I think you can guess by this point that I can't remember the name :) Awesome game though.

Oh and snake, again for a DOS pc.

I'm not really sure.

It was either something on the BBC Micro (a racing game, something involving wolves or some adventure games) or a random WW1 flight sim demo on an SGI Indigo. Really impressive at the time.

Seeing as most everyone else has completely ignored the fact that the question specifically asked what your first PC game was (guessing a lot of people just read the thread title and didnt bother to actually read the post), I might as well join in.

No idea what my first PC game was, possibly doom but I really just cant remember. I do remember that my first computer game was Blitz on the Vic 20, sometime around 1981. Its amazing when you think now that the Vic 20 had 3.5k of memory. 3.5k ! The smallest file in a modern game is usually dozens of times bigger than those entire games :D

cant remember for sure but it was 1 of these:

chuck yaegars
duke nukem 3d

my hdd was a 250mb or 500mb seagate.

I think it was either super mario brothers for the nes when I was 2 in 1992 , or some f1 racing game for it.

The 1st game I owned though was a mega drive with sonic 1 in 1993 when I was 3 :D

first game ever would belong to the golden age of gaming....Space Invaders was my first..my cousin was lucky enough to have the real arcade machine in his house alongside asteroids and a pool table and a atari 2600!

First PC game was some amiga ports in cga/ega graphics..about 4 colours, they were really bad...first decent pc game was DooM about 3 years later in 1993

my first ever Real hardrive was a GVP Impact II 52mb(Great Valley Products, best in the world at the time) for the commodore amiga which actually costs more than the amiga at a cool £499 in 1990;)
