What was your first bike?

In theory it was a DT125 that I was fixing, kept for about a week and gave it away as engine was gubbed, got it free

2nd was VFR750FG, kept it a year and swapped it for my current bike Daytona 955i

Not sure on worth of either as I got them for nowt

Honda Varadero 125. Big, underpowered, yet I still really have a soft spot for it. Maybe one day I'll come back to the 1,000 cc version :)

a honda c50 i swapped for a 10speed racer pushbike
it was in the 70`s and i was 12
stripped it down for the local tip where everyone went to ride there bikes
and back then 20p worth of petrol lasted all day lol

and spitfires flew over heat fighting the germans LOL :D

What was your first bike? SV650 Sport (new)
How long did you keep it? about 7 months
How much was it? £4,100 I think (bikes were cheaper in 2008!)

Suzuki B100P

My dad converted it to a field bike with raised suspension, high level exhaust, plastic mudguards, big rear sprocket and knobblies. Spent many hours riding around my grandparents land when I was about 10, pretending I was competing in "Kickstart" :D

Got my first bike in 1998, a 2 year old Kawasaki ZX6R. Cost me £4,000. Bought it 2 Weeks before taking my DAS test. Spurred me on no end. Kept it for 3 years. Awesome bike.

Kawasaki GPZ500S
Kept it about a year
Bought for £800

Decent bike, but the fairings were tatty. Engine was nice though and unless I was carring a pillion it was more than powerful for my needs at the time.

Suzuki AP50, bought it in 1980, tho i can't for the life of me remember how much for, rode it into the back of a car within a month because i was stareing at a girl on horseback, who was wearing really, really tight jodhpurs :D

a year later i progressed to a BSA C15 250, the power increase was breathtaking :p

When I was 17, my dad's friend gave me this to get me started

a Honda C90 4 speed step thought that I Did up repainted etc in that colour as well, along with it I got a c70 for spares , however they werent compatable so I gave it to my mate and neighbour to rag around the local fields. annoyingly the 70 went faster than my 90, this was the early ninety's.it died very soon after having no mechanical sympathy. then skip 8 years

then I bought one of these brand new on a y plate

I bought it to commute on 80 miles aday all weathers snow the floods the lot, I did my full test on it,and rode it until my 2 years were up then bought a v plate Bandit. the first ride was great the new found power smoothness and speed.

After having this a year and throwing it down the road and into the back of a stopped car. I bought this at 18 months old in 2004

on an 02 plate and have had it ever since, done only 50k miles on it so far and going strong.

bullit

My first ever bike was an old air cooled RD200, i was only 8 years old.

My dad got it as a non runner, he and my uncle got it running and then took me and my brother over the track on it, lol i couldn't change gear let alone touch the floor :p
They used to sit me on it and push me off in first gear, and that's where the love affair started.

First road bike was the mighty DT50  got this for my 16th birthday back in 1984, had to get an evening job at tesco to pay for insurance.
I was one of the oldest in my year at school, no feeling like carrying a crash helmet round school wilst all my mates were on push bikes :D

Lucky i've got a few bikers in the family :)

Mine was a Mobylette[you can call them bikes when your a kid], I swapped a flicknife for it, with a kid that lived above a curry house;-) I was 12 and Brown Sugar was in the charts. I rode it to school for a few weeks and have no idea what happened to it after that.

First bike was a Fizzy that me and my mate went halves on when we were about 12 iirc. Saved up the money from my paper round for it, think it cost us fifteen or twenty quid...
:)

Beautiful bikes, had my eye on one when i was considering getting a 'ped. I don't know how you can get something so right then so wrong. I mean, who wouldn't rather have a Fizzy or a Honda C50 than some rubbish plastic **** that you can get today? Sure, use different materials to make them lighter and less prone to rust but other than that... there's not really much you can do with something that simple anyway.

My first bike was a BSA D7 Bantam 175cc in the early 1960s then an AJS 500cc twin (sold it to a workmate and a week later went round his to see a conrod sticking out of the side), BSA B40 350cc single (many time a sore foot when it kicked back) , Honda CB250
The Honda was the best of the lot, no pools of oil underneath it when left standing and electric start
