What watch do you wear?

I'd have probably pushed for a speedmaster or seamaster if they were still the prices they were 5 years ago :(

I wish I was lusting after a Speedmaster back then as much as I am now. Think I made the right choice though with the SMPc, bought this when it wasn't crazy priced. I've treated it well, not baby'ed it though and it hasn't a mark on the piece, the bracelet on the other hand.... :)

Speedmasters are a pretty much love or hate thing. I never really cared much for them tbh when I was looking to Omega for my first luxury watch. I saw the SMPc as a superior and more desirable piece.

I'll never sell the SMPc, it just ticks all the boxes for me. I really don't like what they've done with the new SMPc, but that's a different subject!

I think I've just bought in to the whole history of the Speedmaster and being a space nut, I'm really drawn to it. Just wish it was £1500 or so cheaper :D

Really nice watch that :) And I do like the new one with the ceramic dial too. Only thing that stops it being pretty much perfect is the helium escape valve, which just isn't really needed.

Regarding the speedmaster, I do love a chronograph and the speedmaster is just just a classic and iconic one.

Maybe one day I'll own both :D

I have a 16610 Rolex Sub Date, and also a 42mm Explorer II. I have others, but these are the expensive ones. The Rolex Sub I have owned since 2000 (21 years). The 16610 is tritium version and 100% original.

Pretty impressed with the lume on my hydroconquest. I'd heard it was a weak point of the watch, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Not the brightest I've ever seen, but seems to last all night.

Is it green or blue? I believe certain models from Longines have been using BGW9 for a bit now but typically Longines and Lume have always been a disaster combination as even their divers had weak lume. I had to send my Hydro away to be re-lumed and it came back brighter and longer lasting than most watches on the market of the time lol.

I am likely selling my Laco Aachen 39mm with a view to buy the Laco Kempten 39mm also with Type-B dial which comes with a hand winding option. Figured I may as well have all hand wind pilot watches since the Hamilton and Stowa are that anyway. The other bonus is the blasted finish case on the Kempten and original Flieger case and crown design too.

Not bothered by the Top grade movement option with this as the case back is closed, so the elabore one is fine by me which I believe is now Selita based. The Stowa comes with the Top grade however with the open back and I've now been told that it will ship next week as the extra engraving has added some days in delay.

It's a blue lume. I believe it was green on the previous model though? I think it is supposed to be a little improved on the ceramic bezel model. Definitely better than my old citizen anyway.

I Iose track on what you currently have mrk :p That laco looks pretty nice though. Not a brand I'd really heard of before.

My new watch, a Garmin Fenix 6X Pro. Swapped the Apple Watch S5 for it. Would've liked to keep both but seems a bit daft.

There's a lot i miss from the Apple Watch, especially the cellular data aspect and the higher value Apple Pay, but hoping this helps me push forward with running. Plus i much prefer how big it is and how it looks more watch like, just need to pick up a nicer strap now.

I know this is an old post but did it motivate you to run more in the end?

I have also bought the same model with the same mindset and curious how you got on.

Sorry, my post might not've been very clear. I always had plenty motivation with running and used to run 25-30 miles a week, was more meaning to push on and improve performance and also allow me to run some longer Ultras whilst still tracking the whole run whereas the Apple watch would've died after ~6 hours.

I find the watch excellent, and the Garmin software has improved a lot since i used it with an old Vivoactive around 2015.

Ah my bad, I was just searching 'fenix' on the forum to see who had them and saw the post.

While you say it's excellent, is there anything that you're not keen on with it?

Honestly i don't think so. The only things i feel it lacks are some of the smart features that are available on the Apple watch, but i wasn't expecting that.

I suppose my only real gripe, is that you can't setup data screens on your phone and it has to be done on the watch. Given there's a lot of options and only a few buttons it can make it take quite a while. On my Apple Watch it was all done through the app and much easier.

My other gripe would be the lack of decent Garmin Pay options. I can't add my Amex to it, and it's also a little clunky to activate due to the lack of buttons etc. You can hold the top right button to turn it on but it then wants a 4 digit code which is a pain to enter, i suppose if you do use it then i'd suggest just using 0000.

I just get caught up in the whirlwind of wanting things in harmony sometimes I guess like now I want all my pilot watches to be hand wind since 2 of them are lol. I have had a think about it though over the last 24 hours and will keep the Laco Aachen. It needs to acquire some battle scars to give it that true feel though so I will not be baying it around but instead wearing it with moderate anger.

I've also found that the green L sized Hirsch rubber strap I got by accident from Germany wears nicely on the Hamilton so have shelved the Zuludiver rubber one piece in green and am using the Hirsch instead as it is a higher quality strap.

Ah, I'm more the opposite really. I think if I buy another watch, I'd like something really different to the hydroconquest. I'd love a nice mechanical chronograph, but they are all way too thick for my liking. One of the big reasons I settled on the hydro was its relatively slim at 12mm.

The problem is my preferences are quite set in stone lol. Date window? in the bin! for example. Think my tastes now are almost exclusively on stuff that has vintage cues about them whether a re-issue or inspired or a natural evolution in design of old with the material and technology from new.

Here's how the military green Hirsch rubber looks on the Hamilton, feel it suits nicely with the Royal air force style! and the thickness and slight curvature of the strap lends itself well to bumping up the otherwise 36mm case size. I don't have a 16mm Hamilton buck;e but took off a vintage buckle from a tropic strap which suits this and is period-correct too so am happy enough with that. Leaving the buckle polished as the dial hands are polished as is the crown face.

That dial texture in the sun is just
