What watch do you wear?

That ting is a bit rad isn't it. Imagine getting high one day and trying to tell the time :D

Was playing around with lume earlier and noticed something new on the Laco, the hands are lumed on the underside as well it seems, distinct glow lighting up the dial under the hands. It's either that or the hands themselves are super thin, thin enough for the top side lume to shine through. Both watches use C3 lume. Quite cool.

Dont need to try and get high - normal day to day is a struggle lol!

Have had to start cycling to get my daughter to childminder so dug out the Fitbit. Loathe that thing and it's demands for power.

Anyway, wore it Tues, Weds and last night ripped it off half way through sleeping as it was annoying - then got back from this mornings commute and the strap had broken.

Ce la vie - I guess I will exercise sans data like some kind of Neanderthal.

I've genuinely never understood the need for smart watches when exercising. My body tells me how fit I am and how effective my exercise has been.

I do get it, it can be good encouragement if your gadget tells you what to do a when. Also it might make it more fun as you can track your stats.

Personally I don't feel the need for one at all given I'm not an elite athlete.

I'm a data driven individual and love to see trends. It doesn't *stop* me exercising as I jested, but it is an annoyance when I get to the gym/jump on the bike and I've forgotten the watch to collect the data so I know my trend line is going to be 1 day less complete than it could have been.

For e.g. when I stop drinking my resting heart rate has a distinct decline - I now have data that confirms not drinking has a direct impact on my body (silly example as there is enough evidence). For cycling, I was just curious as to how many calories I would burn as it seemed like you are rolling quite a bit. You could argue its "roughly x, y or z" but I am a bit too OCD for 'roughly'.

FitBit was good for sleep quality too. It made me understand that under 7 hours is bad and informed what I needed to do to change my habits. Seeing the data "was better" was enough to validate the change was good.

Edit: it also automatically tracks running and does rudimentary timekeeping which is useful for trend analysis and top-trump chats with colleagues.

I was banging on about a whoop in a thread in the SA and lots of people disagree with me but that's ok. Each to their own. I love having health and exercise stats and metrics and I love to wear a proper watch. The whoop is like a fitbit without a digital display that you don't have to take off to charge or ever really. In fact the only time I have ever removed it is for scuba diving.
Anyway, thread getting derailed a little.. I'll bring it back on track with today's choice, my lesser spotted and lesser worn Speedmaster Date. Was an ebay purchase with B&P and I got it for a good price. It's up 31% on that if the Chrono 24 app is to be believed. Always wanted one but I have a black Planet Ocean (a few pages back) plus other black watches so wanted something a little different.
