What watch do you wear?

Hi all. Bit out of the loop with watches. I'm looking for a watch with really good lume and have only just seen that you can get the TGLS (tritium?) stuff out there now which looks like it never fades and is very bright. Any opinions on it vs "normal" lume. What watches have good "normal" lume and what terms should I be looking for when buying to differentiate? Does anyone find the TGLS stuff too distracting, i.e. too bright?

Thanks. Very nice.
I'm after a silver metal bracelet, silver case, white face with good lume, no numbers (just dials) for under £300. Anyone know of anything like that then let me know. :)

I've ordered a couple of watches with Creation watches. Never used them before. They seem to have good things said about them reading reviews and some forums. I've paid through PayPal so hopefully I'll be backed up if anything goes pair shaped.

Great unless you have a problem which can't be supported by your local region warranty or change your mind.

Delivery usually quick, in theory you could have by wed

Yes thats the risk you take I suppose. I won't be changing my mind. I've researched them and watches plenty of YouTube vids so pretty much know what they look like and do.
The 2 watches I've ordered both say 1 year international warranty if that means anything.

I Ordered this one from them yesterday http://www.creationwatches.com/prod...-250/hamilton-khaki-field-h70455533-3608.html sent me an email saying they have dispatched today however it says its been sent from Singapore hopefully get it before Christmas but doubt it tbh, looks like they have good reviews and aren't selling fakes/copy's. I wonder how they can charge more than £100 less than other sites in the UK (for example watch shop)

If you're hit with VAT and the subsequent handling charges though, that'll delay things substantially.

regarding the VAT, on the order information page it says "Total Including tax" so I assume I have paid VAT? kinda worried now that I'll have to fork out more money on arrival? not sure how this works

Isn't that just the local tax for the country you are buying it from? VAT is a UK tax payable for items bought in the UK or imported to the UK (the exception to that is for goods bought in other EU countries where you have already paid EU tax). You may be lucky and may not be charged VAT but you may be when it goes through customs.

Ive seen a few people order from CW and no one has been hit by customs. Knowing my luck though :( We will have to wait and see. Goodluck ;)

If you have a DHL tracking number you'll probably be alright, it just seems to be the ones shipped from Japan using EMS that get stung.

CW put 'measuring instrument' on the customs declaration with a low value :p

Yeah I've just checked the government website and it says:

"HMRC has special arrangements that allow some overseas traders to charge, collect and pay over to us the import VAT for goods purchased by mail order, that would normally be chargeable at the time the goods are imported. These arrangements operate under Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) signed with certain overseas customs and postal authorities. The countries that have a MoU with HMRC are - the Channel Islands, Hong Kong, Singapore and New Zealand. Overseas traders wanting to use this procedure must be authorised to do so by their authorities."

Which I interpret as there being no charge from these countries? and yes it's being delivered by DHL

This is the key bit: "Overseas traders wanting to use this procedure must be authorised to do so by their authorities"

So does the website it was ordered from say that they pay the VAT? I'd assume they'd make that sort of thing very clear as it's a great selling point!

Reading the testimonials from the UK buyers on there (over 2000 or so) none of them seem to mention being shafted by tax at all so i'm hopeful :)

So just got a mail back from Goldsmiths regarding my grandfathers Longines; On the left.

They want £1400 to restore/service it. Bit more than I was expecting.
